“Very good hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2011

Its location is not as good as City Centre Hotel or Reykjavik Centrum but it is 2 min walking to main street. And thanks to its location, Residence Hotel is one of the few hotels in Reykjavik city centre with no street noise; maybe the only one.
Brilliant decoration of the rooms.
Very comfortable bed.
Very easy to park in the back street at no cost.
So-so breakfast.

We stayed two nights at RRH and this was definitely the stand out hotel of the week. Upon check-in they showed us to our room and was immediately impressed by the quality and newness of the room. Everything looked brand new, modern and stylish. There was a flat screen TV with English language stations and free WI-FI, a true plus. The kitchenette with fridge was great. Each day a modest breakfast plate is dropped off with bread, meats, veggies and in the cabinet were cold cereal and coffee/tea. A coffee machine is provided, electric tea pot and a toaster. The bathroom was spacious and actually provided shampoo.

The location was great and not far from the main shopping/dining areas. We had no noise issues at all.

The only concern we had was the advertised free on-site parking. We were able to get one of the few "official" parking spots for the hotel on our first day. The second day, we had to park on the street which is always a bit unnerving. There are No Parking signs everywhere, but the hotel staff said it was fine. Thankfully we had no problems.

Do not be put off by the location or the reception desk not being 24 hours. You will not be disappointed by these stylish mini-apartments.

Stayed at this hotel one night Sept.1, 2011. We arrived in the middle of the night and reception was waiting for us. The gentleman at the desk helped us with luggage. Our room was on the lower level, but completely self contained. The kitchenette was well fitted out. We were shown where to find out breakfast for the next morning. There was a small table, comfortable beds and a bathroom with shower, heated towel bar, and heated floor. Flat screen TV was wall mounted for easy viewing from both beds. The hotel manager could not have been more cordial and helpful. The room was immaculate. Location was superb for walking about Reykjavik. I would stay there again, in a heartbeat!

This converted mansion was brand spanking new, with all the amenities you could want. Room on the second floor with slanted ceilings was very well put together and felt stylish yet homey. Parking in lane at the back was not a problem for us. Free laundry came in very useful after 2 weeks on the road in Iceland. I love an establish that does not hassle you for small change - computer and printer in lobby open for use, we did our online check in and printed boarding passes. Front desk service was very, very helpful, almost had to get in a physical struggle as he insisted on taking our two suitcases up the stairs! Location was fine, downtown Reykjavik is so small you are basically anywhere within 5-10 minutes. We stayed in another apartment/hotel, Rekjavik4you at the beginning of our trip and Reykjavik Residence is the hands down winner.

We stayed her for a week in July. This new quaint hotel is only one block off from main shopping/eating area. 5 minute walk to everything. It was very modern, clean, and comfortable. Since it is small, no elevators to contend with. The room had a kitchen area and we were brought simple breakfast, milk and juice daily. The staff was overly accommodating and answered any questions we had about area. We had our teenage son with us and they had extra bed set up for him when we arrived. I would highly recommend to all travelers to Rejkjavik

Room Tip: Rooms are quiet with darkening draperies. We faced main street and had no problems with any noise.

To our family vacation to Iceland. Our son had been studying in Iceland for a year so we decided to join him for a vacation. Luckily, our first stop was the Residence Hotel. We had a two bedroom apartment, which was very well equipped, clean, spacious and within walking distance of anything you wanted to see and do in the city. The staff were cheerful, accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Breakfast in the morning was provided and we prepared our own. this was great for us, as we then filled the dishwasher and headed out the door. Be warned, like everything in Iceland, it is not cheap! Highly recommended and we will certainly use it on a return trip.
