We could not be happier with this boutique hotel. We have arrived earlier in the morning and our room was ready waiting for us. We were greeted by a very friendly front desk person who showed us into our room and offered help with the luggage. The hotel has several parking spaces behind the main building for those who are driving/hiring a car. The room was spacious, very clean and we liked the modern design. Every room comes with a kitchenette which is also very helpful but we ate out most of our meals. I did not find restaurants really that pricey and there so many wonderful options for dining out, especially if you like fresh seafood. Our room was on the top floor of the main building and we even had a partial view of the ocean (weather permitting). I would stay at this property again, without hesitation.

We stayed at the Reykjavik Residence for 3 nights. We had pre-booked the flybus + which runs from the airport and then drops you off at your hotel via the bus terminal. This worked out fine with no hitches.
We were greeted warmly on arrival and particularly liked the informality of the hotel.
Our room was a decent size with comfy beds and was equipped with everything we needed. There was a bowl of fresh fruit in the room on arrival and the fridge was stocked daily with bread, cheese, ham & jams for breakfast plus there was coffee, tea & juices - all quite basic but perfectly adequate.
The bathroom was fine - a decent sized bath with hand shower.
The location was excellent with a good choice of bars and restaurants nearby.
We plan to visit Iceland again in the warmer months and would definitely choose this hotel due to its location, great hospitality and value for money.

My husband and I stayed at the Reykjavik Residence for 6 nights in March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a studio room with small kitchenette which came in very handy indeed given how expensive it is to eat out in town - we brought some pasta and risotto rice with us and cooked 3 or 4 times there. One night we had an excellent takeaway from the local Nepalese place, Eldhus, and we treated ourselves to the "Around Iceland" Menu at The Fish Company on our last night in Reykjavik which is highly recommended.

The bathroom had a fabulous long bath which was great to relax in coming in from the cold. Although there was no separate shower, the shower itself had great pressure so no complaints.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and warm to come back to after a long day out sightseeing - a real home from home as previous reviewers have mentioned. Lovely comfortable beds too and a quiet neighbourhood despite being close to the centre of town.

My only slight niggle is that although clean towels were provided every day, the bathroom did not seem to be cleaned whilst we were there, but we did leave our room fairly late most mornings, so perhaps the cleaning had been done by then!

All in all highly recommended and we would definitely return on our next visit to Reykjavik.

My husband and I had a fantastic 7 night stay at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel, over New Year 2012. We very much enjoy finding smaller, boutique hotels, which have great character and warmth to them - and the Reykjavik Residence does not disappoint in the slightest. It was exactly what we were looking for, as a 'home away from home'.

The studio room we had was gorgeous - warmly furnished, large bathroom, and full kitchen. Having the faciilty to cook our own food for lunch and dinner was a huge bonus. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast that was provided each day by the hotel, which included unlimited fruit juice, along with cheese, ham, bread and various spreads.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us - just one block away from the main shopping street and all the restaurants, but still quiet and peaceful at night. The staff we met were all very friendly, and always ready to help with any questions or enquiries about the town, or excursions in Iceland.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, for anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay, with true character and warmth, in the centre of Iceland. We very much want to return to Iceland, in the summer months, and if we do, we'll be staying at the Reykjavik Residence without hesitation.

We stayed in a studio here for 5 nights in March. The place was a good size with a small kitchen area a bit small but fine to cook for 2 people, no oven but everything else including combi microwave, toaster etc. The beds were very comfortable and the studio had a good size shower/wet room. the fridge was stocked with our breakfast each morning with bread, a selection of jams, meat and cheese, there were also cornflakes and a selection of juices. There is no bar or restaurant area but a comfy small lounge area where you can wait for trips etc. The location is great just off the main shopping/bar area and although on a busy road we had no noise during the night. just a couple of streets down to the waterfront. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again and recommend to others.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, free wifi, good size rooms that come with little kitchen (fridge, kettle, stove top, microwave) very handy especially when food is so expensive in Iceland. Only downside would be that the bathroom didn’t really have a shower, it just came with a bath (huge) and a shower nozzle with hose that you had to hold up over yourself. Free continental breakfast (ham, bread, cheese, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee etc) was pretty good and fresh daily. Overall really nice, less than 5 minute walk to main city centre, quiet and safe location, 5 minute walk to 24hr supermarket, would definitely recommend this one.

We have just returned from a 4 night trip to Iceland of which our 2nd two nights were here at the Reykjavic Residence Hotel.
After our initial doubts and concerns as we drove up the road to this hotel ( some rough looking properties in the vecinity ) we pulled up outside and thought to ourselves "well, it actually looks very nice"
On entering the reception area.... OMG... this trully is a "hidden gem"
We were made very welcome, offered a coffee and told that we had actually been given an upgrade due to the fact when we made our booking through expedia we had mentioned the reason for our visit was partly in celebration on a rather special birthday.
The exceptional cleanliness and attention to detail was very apparent as was the tasteful decor in the reception.
We were shown to what turned out to be a two bedroomed 1st floor apartment with everything you could possibly need.
The decor, furnishings, bedding, lighting, heating were all way beyond our expectations for the price we had paid.
Basicaly we rarely stay anywhere without finding fault in at least something... until now !!
Very very highly recomended and we will definately be returning to Iceland in the near future and of course will be staying hear again.
Oh and by the way it is purfectly located for all that Reykjavik has to offer.

Room Tip: All the rooms are equally superp.
