We have just got back from. Short break from Iceland staying and this hotel. The hotels location is great very close to everything you would want to see in the city itself. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful with planning your days out even arrange for you to be picked up from the hotel and taken out from there. The only down side was the size of the rooms but i guess since we were spending all day out and about it didn't really matter to much

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to joining a tour and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were small by American standards, but average by European standards. There were room darkening curtains that really helped since it never got really dark. Rooms were clean and staff nice and accommodating. The location is superb. Of course, this did make it a bit noisy as we were there for a Friday and Saturday night stay but since we had done some research, we knew it would be and came prepared with earplugs. The convenient location more than made up for the bit of noise. There is a small and quite nice bar downstairs that was very lively both nights. The breakfast buffet was quite good with a decent selection and good price. We would go back.

We stayed here for 4-nights during a recent trip to Reykjavik. It was easy to walk to shopping, Music Hall, restaurants. They have an included buffet breakfast, which is great because food in Iceland is EXPENSIVE, (We went to buffet at another hotel, that had the same food and it costs US $20!)
Our room 256, overlooking the back area and was very quiet. Friends rooms were on the front side over looking the square and it was very noisy.
Staff was very friendly. Room were nice, but beds are all twin beds.
Free internet was a plus. Would stay there again. Lots to groups were there.

Room Tip: Select room on the back side of hotel, it is quieter. Free internet in lobby to print airline board...

Great place to stay. The location is centrally located so it is easy to walk everywhere. The rooms are spotless and the beds are comfortable. The staff at the front desk were all very helpful but Anna was amazing. She took such good care of us. She made reservations at the theater and restaurants and called ahead to our other out of town hotels to confirm our arrival times. She was the best! I hope to return to Iceland and will stay there again...hopefully we will see Anna again too!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. We were given an excellent upgraded room but upon check in they said it could...

We give this hotel 2 stars- one for superb central location and one for cleanliness. We loved Iceland and it was one the best countried we have ever visited. This hotel however, was the only negative part of our trip. We arrived on Friday August 1st and checked out on Friday August 8th. The hotel has a bar inside on the ground floor level behind the check in area. It's called "Micro Bar". Our room was located o nthe 3rd floor in the back of the hotel, two floors above the Micro Bar. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the following Thursday night, we were unable to sleep at all because of the loud noise coming from the Micro Bar. The music was played from 11pm- 4am in the morning and until about 5am, we could hear bar patrons screaming and yelling in the street behind the hotel. The music was so loud, that the wooden floors of our room were vibrating and were were two floors above the bar. We did not sleep for 4 out of the 7 nights we were in Iceland, which was difficult, because my mother is elderly and because the purpose of our trip was to go out and actively sightsee while there. It was very difficult to sightsee during the day while we were unable to sleep at night.

When I advised the overnight desk agent, he lied to us and said that the noise was coming froma another bar next door. However, we walked through the street in the back of the hotel and in the front and there are no other clubs/ bars around. I walked downstairs in the middle of the night and it was in fact this Micro Bar that was making the noise. We did not appreciate his childish attempt to decieve us and thought it was an awful business practice to inconvenience hotel guests in such a way.

The continental breakfast at the hotel was also horribly overpriced...10 Euro per person. We ate full breakfast at Cafe Haiti 5 minutes away by the wharf for 1/3 that price and on days that we had to leave really early for a tour, we prepared by getting croissants the night before at the grocery store across the street for 1/5 the price of City Center Hotel's continental breakfast.

We will definitely return to Reykjavik but we will never stay at this hotel ever again and we would not recommend to our friends and family members when they go this winter.

We spent two nights in July. The room was pretty large, beds very comfortable, great bathroom. Staff was helpful. My only complaint is that wi-fi was poor in our room and I had to go into the hallway or the lobby to access the Internet.
