Had a 5 night stay in this hotel and although it had many positive points in terms of location, it's decor and the quality of the rooms and we also thought breakfast was good too although a little more choice would be good.
Our main gripe that during our stay this was basically a B&B, no concierge , no room service, no bar but we paid a hotel rate. Their is a bar/restaurant next to the hotel which I think is part of it but you can't access it from the hotel nor does it fit in with its overall decor. When we stayed the website was not advertising the restaurant was closed.
Also, like the previous review we had an issue with the drilling from the hotel net door, although our room (402) was one room separated from the noise. We weren't overly bothered by it but the hotels misinformation said it would finish at 6 and no work at the weekend, on both counts they were wrong.
The room we had was lovely with big windows overlooking the square and all modern facilities, we were not effected by outside noise.
Iceland and reykjavik are magnificent and hopefully we will return but not sure if we will stay at the Borg.

Hotel was very centrally situated however there was building work going on next door, seven days a week from 8am to 7pm and we were originally provided with a room in the annexe so the noise was horrendous. After complaining to reception we were told they maybe able to move us but were fully booked. Eventually the next day after complaining again a very helpful gentleman called Thomas arranged to have us moved to the main building and it was very peaceful. Also when we were there the restaurant was closed and there was no room service - they did do a continental breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. I would also state that the rooms were very nicely decorated and clean. However, I would not rare it as a four star hotel because of the lack of facilities.

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay here and thought the hotel was very good. It is centrally located in the pretty old town with numerous restaurants, cafes and bars on the door step.

The rooms are well proportioned with nice attention to detail for the art deco theme which runs throughout the hotel.

We did have a front facing room onto the square which was double glazed so could only hear faint revellers on Fri/Sat night.

Overall good spot and great rooms.

very nice hotel in the middle of Reykjavik. There are some great restaurants near the hotel, for those who doesn't like to eat there. We were lucky to find the parking place right in front of the hotel, and since it was weekend, it was for free :)
The best breakfast during our stay in Iceland! great choice, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, crispy bacon stripes (yummy). The room was clean, even though a bit old-time fashioned. Would recommend it in any case.

The location is excellent, the staff superb!
Hotel Artdeco feel;was very clean and welcoming. Our room was more than adequate, with nice bed, tea making facilities, and good area to desking/for free WiFi internet. TV limited options but fine. Ice bucket arranging in room can be a little challenging! Apparently they run out of ICE in ICELAND! so never recieved! Would stay again. And a special thanks to the night porter/ receptionist (sorry have forgoten name and title) who is an absolute credit to Hotel Borg. Could not do enough for us when problems arose, (no show), with independent Icelandic tour companies. Thank you!

We stayed as a family in Feb 2014 for four nights. The room was spacious, well appointed, and clean. The hotel was also well situated. The experience was however ruined by the hotel restaurant. This was over priced, and the staff pretentious. After requesting a table without a reservation, despite being empty we were kept waiting for 10 minutes while the waiter checked on the computer (who needs to check if the restaurant is empty?). We ordered a bottle of wine; after 10 minutes the waiter returned with another bottle saying the original bottle was out of stock, pressuring us to open the new bottle without saying how much the new bottle was.

When I did enquire the waiter then reluctantly told us that it was 60euro more than the original bottle!

This was clearly a confidence trick- trying to open a far more expensive bottle of wine than ordered, and spoiled the holiday for the duration of the stay. Do not go anywhere near the restaurant!

The hotel is situated very centrally to everything i.e. the local harbour, restaurants, town centre and bars etc.

We stayed there for 5 nights including the weekend and agree with other reviews in that the room we had was very warm despite turning down the radiator. We had a room overlooking the square which is very nice but due to the room being too warm, had to open the windows. Unfortunately the local nightlife can also be heard with loud music pumping out till 3 or 4 in the morning, so the windows had to be closed again!

We declined on the offer of the breakfast which was €18 p/p. There is a very good cafe called Laundromat just a minute down the road for breakfast.

Room was large with heated bathroom floors and cleaned daily with free wifi.
