This hotel is very well located in the old town. The room was very comfortable and a reasonable size. The bathroom is small but is modern and has everything that is needed. The staff are very helpful, friendly and very willing to please. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold dishes. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

the outside is somewhat " off-putting ". However the inside was very comfortable and was what I imagine a gentleman's club in london may be like. Art everywhere but not always very appealing. The staff were really friendly and helpful despite our first impressions (being kept waiting to check in for over 15 minutes as the receptionist was on the phone) . The rooms were comfortable tho somewhat spartan and were really noisy. I was woken up one night by a mobile phone ringing in the room next door and then heard every word that was said. Another night I was kept awake by people talking loudly after midnight in the lobby below. On the positive side there were tea and coffee making facilities, towelling robes and good accessories in the bathroom. I think we probably paid a lot to be in this hotel as part of our holiday and felt it was definitely not worth it

Room Tip: probably I would ask to be away from a staircase where the added noise from people going up and down adds to that from the rooms adjoining

The customer service at this hotel, like much of Iceland, is fantasic. I would agree with other reviewers that the rooms may be smaller for American standards but they were fine for us. The bathroom was modern, the breakfast was extensive with hot & cold items, and there is free parking. The hotel has art everywhere. They offer a free pass to the huge church belltower that is only a 3 minute walk. I understand the restaurant is very good, but we did not try it on the evening we stayed. The hotel also has a little old school with electric shoe polishers on each floor near the elevators/stairs and red carpet in the hallways.

Nice older hotel well located in an older neighborhood in Reykjavik. Clean with a very friendly staff. The rooms may be small by US standards, but they're just fine. We did very well on the rate by paying in full in advance. Restaurants and delis within close walking distance.

Room Tip: The single beds are rather small - almost cot-sized.

Stayed for four nights end of February/beginning of March at the Hotel Holt. The Hotel is clean, comfortable with very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was quiet and beds super comfy. Good size bathroom and large shower. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast was great,, lovely coffee and fresh juices with plenty of choice in the hot and cold buffet - the kitchen even cooked me fresh scrambled eggs (asked how many I would like) as we were last down to breakfast one day as the hot dish was almost empty. We saw the Northern Lights (twice) which was the icing on the cake but take warm layers as you stand outside for maybe an hour or so late at night waiting for them to appear. Soooo worth the wait though. Reykjavik itself is easy to walk around and the Hotel is situated on the level and is, literally, 3 minutes walk to the main area. Have dinner in Restaurant Caruso if you can - best Italian Restaurant there (booking advised) and Vegemot Cafe/Bar (reasonable prices and large varied menu). Good museums locally and tours pick up from the Hotel for further away places. Next time we would hire a car as it was quite a reasonable price and Hotel has parking for residents. Great stay - thanks to Hotel Holt.

Room Tip: Set on a quiet road so no noise problems at all
