“Quirky”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We stopped here for a quick coffee to rest our feet and get out of the cold! The cafe was so cute. It was a complete mismatch of tacky bits and bobs that when put together was great. We sat in the cozy alcove looking around at the different ornaments that have been collected over the years. It had a warm and friendly atmosphere. The coffee and hot chocolate hit the spot too!

“Just ok place”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We had a coffee break at the Babalu Cafe in September 2013. And although the coffee was good and cookies were big and quite nice (not so sweet, more like snack cookies than desert), the chocolate crepe I ordered was terrible. It was ready-made and then heated in the microwave with the chocolate, so that the crepe was chewie and dry and tasted stale, and the chocolate tasted burned. They kept the door open so it was quite cold to sit downstairs, but since we had a baby sleeping outside, on the other side of the window, we couldn't go upstairs. The service was little rude and indifferent, but the decor was fun and cosy. All in all I wouldn't go there again.

“Quirky and good value lunch stop”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

We stumbled upon this quirky shabby chic cafe on the way back down from visiting the church in central Reykjavik on a cold afternoon. The decor is mixed with a real eclectic selection of chairs, tables, lamps, mugs etc. and the toilets are Star Wars themed with memorabilia and decor. We had a great late afternoon lunch of panini and the toasted cheese sandwich/soup special. Really good food, fresh and well presented for really good value. Worth a visit!

“Great Coffee - Great Company”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

A nice little stop for a bite to eat, some excellent coffee, and wonderful conversation. A comfortable respite for a couple of over the hill hippies wanting to sit and talk a while with locals and expats and hear a great selection tunes picked by the staff.

“amazing panini!”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Looking for a late lunch on a cold day, we walked up this road towards the big church in Reykjavik and saw this funky little cafe. I ordered a panini with a hot chocolate. The panini was AMAZING. I got the egg, bacon and cheese one and my friend got the tuna and cheese one. It was exactly what we wanted on a cold and grey day.... melted, gooey cheese..... *drool* - and the hot chocolate with whipped cream on top was delicious! The cakes in the window looked awesome as well, but we had decided to get the giant cookie sandwich with butter cream as a filling. oh.my.god. delicious!

check out the toilet - best toilet in Iceland!!!!
