This is a great internet cafe for chill in-actually warming up with good wholesome food. Friendly, funky, eclectic casual lunch stop with daily specials and fresh ingredients. Nice place to relax over good coffee in surroundings that are a feast for nostalgia buffs. Good food, good vibes right in the heart of town. Also, very comfortable for someone traveling alone.

“Lovely Place”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

We stopped off here twice during our trip to Reykjavik. Once was for lunch for which I had a panini which was very yummy indeed follow by some vegan carrot cake which tasted amazing. The second time I had a mint tea and some cheesecake which were both gorgeous also. The thing that made this place amazing though was the décor, I loved it so much, so cosy and interesting. For a quick bite or a long coffee this place is worth a look at :)

“A great cafe in a great coffee town”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Cafe Babalu is a little slice of Bohemia in a town that likes its coffee. Great pastries, salads and soups--and a lasagna that was fresh our of the oven when I was there--vie with their coffee for popularity. the crowd is an eclectic mix of the young and dreadlocked, older caffeine addicts checking their email and slightly wide-eyed tourists making their way down Skólavörðustígur from the nearby cathedral. There's a balcony on the roof with a great view of the harbour, too. Don't pass up the giant cookies...you know you want one.

“Quirky and cosy - unmissable!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We visited Babalu for tea and coffee in the afternoon while a snowstorm was raging outside, and it was the perfect place to spend some time in the warmth whilst looking at the world go by. The staff is really friendly, the interiors are quirky and delightful - if you like colourful, mismatched stuff, then this is definitely your kind of place! Also, make sure to visit the toilets: the weirdest I've ever seen!!
