We grabbed pastries and coffee here 3 times in our day and a half in Reykjavik- so good!

Atmosphere: a little bakery on a busy street in Reykjavik. Narrow by the cash register, but there is seating in the back that expands out for menu service. We grabbed pastries that were easily visible in the window and at the counter and ate while we walked. Service was quick on the pastry end but a little slow on the to-go coffee end.

Food: Mmmm- we tried about 5 different types of bread or pastries here and each one was delicious. Fresh, not overly sweet, and the bread alone is wonderful. The coffees were also very good- the lattes were perfectly proportioned in our opinion (but not compared to American portions)

Prices: Reasonable! $2-5 for pastries and $3-5 for coffee or lattes. If you don't have breakfast booked at your hotel, great place to stop by as they are open at 0730 (early for the city)

Incredible bread, pastries, croissants. We kept stocking up on things here to take back to our rental place for breakfast, and it saved us having to go out for breakfast often. The jams were delicious, too!

We found Sandholt by happy accident. We have visited each day to enjoy a latte and pastry in a relaxed atmosphere. We also purchased food for on the go. The service is excellent, the food is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. We paid the same amount for a latte out of a machine at our hotel as we did here at Sandholt, where the coffee is made fresh on demand.

This was a gem. Trying to navigate Reykjavik for the first time jet lagged and hungry my husband and I came across Sandholt Bakery. They had pressed sandwiches with what seemed to us to be strange (salami and cream cheese) that were incredible. Before we left we got some custard pastries. Also Incredible, I loved the history of the building and the little patio. My only complaint, is very small, and that was that the water glasses were all dirty, but not a big deal(to me). Would make this a must for pastries.

Sandholt makes the best baguette and bread in town and it's the only bakary (in Iceland) who does good croissants and pains au chocolat. They sell at Frú Lauga, Burið and Lifandi Markaður too, which is super convenient for people that dont necessarily go to Laugavegur that often.
