Reception guys very helpful and friendly.

Room reasonable size and very warm (opening window as well to help cool it down).

Bed very comfortable and extra pillows produced immediately on request.

Shower/wet room OK but under performing shower!

Biggest problem was the stamp sized towels - which after a quick wipe over had absorbency their total capacity leaving you still wet and wondering what to do.

Warning any large surface area people who visit might wish to take their own towels!

In room safe never worked and despite continued requests...never did work or get repaired. My feeling is it never will.

Buffet breakfast that was adequate but same every day. Would love to have seen more fresh fruit or even defrosted fruit for the cereals or on it's own.

Used the bar only once and the barman seemed far more interested in jiving his hips in time to the music (as he poured the drink) than actually serving us.

Bar area seemed to be the only place where WiFi worked which is seriously bad in Iceland as every coach and every shop/cafe/restaurant we visited had it.

All in all..I think it's a case of what you see is what you get but it's still a very good location and I am sure that we could have done much worse. We would recommend it

Coaches pick up right outside the front door of the hotel albeit a bit of a scrum to get on board and even to find out if it is 'your' coach.

As has been mentioned on here before there is a massive building site at the sided and back of the hotel which I think will continue for months if not years. They start at 0800 at the latest and go on til 1800ish. They worked Saturday morning which was a bit of a blow as we hadn't got back to the hotel til 0230 from seeing the Northern Lights. I am not sure there would be any quiet room here as traffic is around at the front. Try it and see.

Room Tip: Beware the Building site which in fact is impossible...but it didn't disturb us too much. Would...

The hotel is very clean and functional.More or less positioned at the end of the main shoping street.Breakfast is adequate.we had a room across from the lift no noise whatsoever, which can also be said of the building work next door.Best nights sleep for ages.Very good value. Most bus trips and airport shuttle pick up from the hotel.

Ideally located for seeing the sights and sounds of Reykjavik, we found this hotel excellent value for money and a good base for excursions outside the city. The rooms are small but clean and incredibly comfortable with good quality TVs, a fridge and even ironing facilities. Although we visited in winter we also found them to be warm and cosy, and the shower was perfect. The only slight issues were that we would have liked extra pillows and a kettle to prepare drinks in the room. Also the towels are tiny and you only get one each, which isn't ideal for two women with long hair!

Breakfast is basic but it runs for a good length of time in the morning and there is a wide selection of breads for toast, as well as cereals and fruit. The coffee and hot chocolate are particularly nice as well. In the evenings the area next to the breakfast room becomes a bar with a range of Icelandic beers and other drinks as well as a long Happy Hour. In November there was even a special bright green 'Northern Lights' cocktail! The bar has a homey atmosphere with friendly staff and wifi access, which makes it particularly appealing in colder weather.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Reykjavik and would have no hesitation in visiting again myself. We were able to get a direct coach from the airport to outside the entrance to Klettur and all of the excursions pick up from here as well - we did a Golden Circle tour, whale watching and a Northern Lights excursion. I can imagine fewer more convenient hotels that are such good value for money.

We booked this hotel as a Northern Lights package through Icelandair due to the low price and the central location, and we are very happy that we made the right choice :-)

The reception staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the night shift guy! The rooms are clean, large, modern and appear newly furnished. We were on 6th too floor and had a corner room - no balcony as other reviews mentioned but large floor to ceiling windows across the whole of one wall. I was surprised that we experienced as much noise as we did (woken up a couple of times a night) but whether that was due to unconsiderate guests, or large parties arriving or leaving our area or thin walls, regardless I do recommend ear plugs. Our room had a desk, mini fridge, safe in wardrobe, armchair with mini table and lots of floor space. We did request a double room and had two twin beds pushed together with 2 single duvets, which was the only disappointment with our room.

We were able to get Wifi in the lobby with no problems, but the internet in the bedrooms is cable only - luckily we knew this beforehand and my partner took a new gadget that plugged in and created Wifi for us, not sure what it's called!

We thought the location was very good, 10mins brisk walk and you reach the main shopping/restaurant strip and maybe 20mins to Harbour area. The building site was not a problem for us as did not operate at the weekend.

Breakfast was limited but I made a sandwich from the meat and bread and boyfriend has muesli. There were fruit juices, water and a tea/coffee machine (free during breakfast but 300ISK any other time). The saving grace for me was the yellow peppers to moisten my meat sandwich and the chocolate machine :-) It's definitely worth filling up as best you can with breakfast as all food in Iceland is mega crazy expensive!!

If we return to Iceland, we would definitely stay at the Hotel Klettur again. We were not lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on any of the 3 nights of our stay, so may be tempted to go back again, however perhaps not as I was so very surprised at how ridiculously expensive everything is! We paid around £50 (9,000ISK) for 2 pasta dishes and a glass of house wine each and were shocked to find that's standard in Iceland! (We would pay maybe £25 in NE England for similar). We also did not by any souvenirs due the crazy prices!

We have just returned from three nights at the Hotel Klettur, having read all the recent reviews before we went. Everything is as described, warm welcome, helpful staff, large room with dual aspect and balcony, a nice bathroom. Very modern and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was super. We thought the location was excellent, within easy reach of all the main attractions and shopping areas. The building site was not a problem to us, and did not operate at the weekend. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our included trip - we gathered it is a bit hit and miss because of the weather. If we return to Iceland, we would definitely stay at the Hotel Klettur again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the building would be quieter. Think that the rooms on the 5th and 6th floors...

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights on a long weekend break to Iceland. We arrived late on Thursday night and had a quick check in, and the staff were very helpful in sorting out a couple of issues.

The room was bigger than expected with a spacious bathroom (walk in shower only). We did request a double room and had two twin beds pushed together with 2 single duvets - I'm not sure if this was down to a mix up or if that is a standard double. There was a good sized fridge which was ideal for keeping drinks etc. The room was also cosy to come back to after the day trips and we had minimal noise from the construction going on next to the hotel. We were close to the lift and did hear a bit of noise from other guests but no more than any other hotel.

The complimentary breakfast consists of the usual continental buffet, and the food was constantly being refreshed during the service times. There was still a decent selection available closer to 10am when the service finished.

The hotel is a bit out of the 'centre' of Reykjavik but the city is so small that the main shopping area was only a very short walk away. All the tour companies offered a pick up from the hotel for the trips.

One niggling point - it is very frustrating when a hotel quotes 'free wifi' when it is only available in reception and the bar area.

Overall this hotel seemed really good value in an expensive city and we would probably return if we go back to Reykjavik.

Just a one night stay but loved the hotel ! No frills, pocket friendly (booked on the same day of stay), extremely well placed with quite a good restaurants and attractions around the area. Very clean, nice , spacious , modern, chic accommodation and breakfast area. A big parking lot for the hotel ..which is a very BIG plus. Note: No room service or lunch/ dinner facility.

Room Tip: Got to stay at 6th floor - naturally gives good view of the city and sea.
