I stayed here with
My husband for a few nights . The hotel has a sleek minimalist European feel. The location was excellent. It was a very brief walk to downtown with many excellent restaurants, shopping and bars. The were so many amazing restaurants to choose from . When I say short pleasant walk, I mean it. I was 7 months pregnant and found the walk enjoyable. Also we did not feel uncomfortable walking home late at night .
We used the wifi in the basement to FaceTime home , it was free and worked well. The breakfast was European breakfast and was decent. If possible request a corner room, they gave us one with no extra charge .... Amazing balcony and windows. The views are not the best as it is in a tight space downtown but would gladly stay again

We were at Hotel Klettur for two nights. Even when we arrived well after midnight, the receptionist was really friendly.
The standard room was big enough with modern furnitute. The bath- amazing, loved the shower.
Hope to return soon.

The hotel is quite small and doesn't look much from the outside compared to others but the inside is pretty much like a Premier Inn except more personal feeling. The rooms are very clean and tidy and the interior design isn't too bad either.

The staff are by far the best aspect, they are very friendly and very informative and extremely helpful, especially in regards to trips, points of interest, places to visit etc. You name it (within reason) they'll tell you where to find it and how and help you the most they can. In fact, we went on a tour of Iceland and actually, found we'd learnt more in random interesting snippets of information from our hotel receptionist in general conversation than we did from the tour! Some of which, we still remember now. It's not particularly extravagant customer service but they make you feel like an old friend visiting which is extremely welcoming and without being too intrusive, nothing is too much.

The hotel itself, is about a 5 minute walk from the bus station and the town centre with a lot of convenience 24 hour stores around, although its quite quiet so you can get a peaceful nights sleep despite that.

For once, the showers aren't complicated and you don't have to spend 10 minutes attempting to navigate that too hot, slightly too cold point that other hotels seemingly test tourists with!

The ONLY downfalls I would say are the breakfast, it is nice and it is fresh but it's quite limited and quite boring after a couple days, the room we were in our double bed was actually 2 singles that seemed to be velcroed together which was quite odd, but it was very comfortable nevertheless.

My family of four recently spent two nights at the Hotel Klettur. It is a nice, newish hotel near the center of Reykjavik but in a quiet area. I read a lot of reviews before choosing Hotel Klettur, but many more centrally located hotels were near very noisy areas. The area around Hotel Klettur is a bit bleak, but didn't feel at all unsafe, and it was less than ten minutes to the heart of the shopping area of Reykjavik. The rooms themselves were very nice and clean, nothing fancy but I think that is the style in Iceland (simple rooms). The free breakfast was fine, bread and rolls but also fresh fruit and vegetables. It was nice to have breakfast included when you need to leave early to go on an excursion. Wifi was free and worked fine for us. The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

As mentioned by others, the hotel is next to a construction site but no work was going on when we were there (Sunday and Monday). They are building an apartment building next door to the hotel, and also behind the hotel they are adding on to hotel.

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights at the start of november. If u are just looking for a clean, modern hotel as a base then this is brill for that. We went on a package deal with iceland airways and chosen this hotel out of the selection. I would recommend this airline to anyone. We added on 2 trips to the northern lights package which was whale watching and the golden circle.
so to start with the planes that they use u all get your own tellys which have movies and up to date programs on, which I was happy with.
The transfer time I think was about 45 mins and with such beautiful sights you dont mind this. Check in at the hotel was plain sailing and quick. The rooms are basic but tbh you aint in them much, the beds are comfy and you get a nice hot shower after a very cold day lol. Unfortunately we didnt get to see any whales on the boat trip but saw some dolphins instead. I must admit it was very very cold onboard so wrap up warm! We had 2 trips to see the northern lights as on the 1st trip we wasn't lucky enough to see some so they let u go again untill u do. On the 2nd go we got a very good show!! Well worth braving the minus temps. I had on a pair of tights, leggings and then ski trousers and was warm enough. This hotel is about 10mins walk to the hi street which has lovley little shops. I would def recommend having soup in a roll it warms u up : )
We was very lucky with the weather this time of the year, it was cold as expected but did not rain. On the last day tho we had heavy snow which I was pleased of, so pretty!! In england all planes would of come to a halt but not here. They took off with no trouble.
I can not recomend iceland enough, speaking as someone who loves the heat and sun shine holidays, I would pick this over them any day. One very beautiful country!! People are also friendly. Hope this has helped some people x
