Was here for business and enjoyed my stay. It's about a $20 cab ride for the relatively short ride into town--might be the only drawback. Very nice breakfast included in room rate. The staff was friendly--as were the people of Reykjavik.

Grand is a nice modern hotel. It was nice, that it was possible to open the window. Very fine breakfast. I missed bodylotion in the room. When you travel only with handbags, you can't carry it with you. You can walk to the city-center (2,5 km).

We had a perfect stay at this hotel. It is very easy to find and has free parking. Excellent breakfast, very good dinner at the restaurant. The rooms are ok. Nice and clean, but the beds could have been better. The hotel provide a free shuttle service to the city centre three times a day. I will most likely use the hotel again later.

A large shopping centre is located a 10 min walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: We ahd a room with mountain view, but I think I would have preferred rooms on the other side.

The title says it all really, the city of Reykjavik is one of the greatest cities I've visited. The lobby is large and welcoming, beautifully decorated also. There is a small bar in the lobby, which wasn't too expensive compared to the rest of the city. We stayed on the 4th floor, large room, with a safe, a tv, and a fridge. The busy road outside never bothered us much, as long as we had the window closed you didn't even notice it. Breakfast was buffet style, a lot of choice, and very high quality food. For being a luxurious hotel, it certainly wasn't too pricey. It's not usually my style of hotel, and I am happy enough staying in a travelodge, but the Grand Hotel Reykjavik was worth the money.

Upon arrival the lobby instantly gives a warm welcome. I stayed in a double room (10th floor) and the bed was disappointing, not really geared to 'couples' due to it having 2 separate bed sheets thus giving the illusion of 2 separate beds. Bathroom was nice. The Internet was shockingly slow and only accessible in the lobby, which really hacked me off. The Hotel provide courtesy Taxis running every few hours, which I thought very good ! Restaurant/Bar had great food and atmosphere. For the price this was definitely worth it and I would stay again.

While not in the center of town, this hotel is perfect if you are going to see more of Iceland then Reykjavik. Upscale and modern, this hotel goes out of it's way to please. Great breakfast buffets and dinner in their restaurant was delicious. The room was not the Four Season, but close enough to get a great nights sleep in a clean room with all the amenities you need. The staff did a great job arranging drivers and tours, and they were not pushy or overpriced. Really helped make this a comfortable trip.

We escaped to the Grand Hotel after spending a night in an apartment we'd rented that was less than comfortable. The Grand Hotel seemed like the best hotel in town that had rooms available, so off we went. It's hard to rate the hotel because I'm not sure what I'm comparing it to; the other hotels in Iceland or a luxury hotel in the US.

Our room had two beds pushed together and they seemed to be full or even queen-sized. It was the largest bed we've ever slept in. Bed and bedding were comfortable enough and the hotel was fairly quiet. It seemed to be populated mostly by business people. The breakfast was OK, nothing special. My main complaint was with the bathroom. The shower was a "tube" enclosure which was absolutely tiny and claustrophobic. The counter around the sink had very little room to put anything down. The star of the bathroom was the giant whirlpool tub, which took up most of the bathroom. My friend, who is petite, got stuck trying to climb out of it because it was so deep!

The room was cold feeling (not the temperature, the décor) and seemed dated. It didn't really make a difference but it didn't give the hotel a "grand" feeling.

The front desk were personnel were friendly and helpful and it's nice that they have a little snack and drink kiosk next to the bar in the lobby - you can buy a bottle of water or juice or a snack at any hour.

Would I stay here again? I don't know. I'd check out the other hotels first but if nothing else were available I wouldn't have a problem staying here again. Except for the claustrophobic shower!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a view of the water and mountains.
