Very average hotel, needs to be renovated completely!!! Rooms are ok, but old. Not so close to downtown. Can work for 1-2 nights, but not more. Nice staff, which helps, but cannot change the reality. There are better options in Reykjavik.

Very bad experience.

The Hotel is out of central or historic Reykjavík and therefore requires a long walk or cabs to see the city sights.
The hotel is under renovation.
None of the above, however, is the reason for our experience.
We were three couples occupying three rooms on the sixth floor two of which were adjacent on one end of the corridor and one was done at the other end. The following comments apply in large part top all three.
The furniture was run down, in need of upkeep as the surfaces were peeling, rough and irregular.
Of the two telephones in the room, one was not working at all while the other worked intermittently.
The closet light flickered or was out completely.
The hair dryer in the bathroom was out of order.
The hot water in the bathroom had an odor. We found out in our guide book that can be normal, but still, the odor of rotten eggs to visitors is not pleasant.
On our three night stay, there was only one day when there was an extra toilet tissue roll in the bathroom.
The television remote (or perhaps the TV itself)was not working properly. Channels could not be accessed easily.
The staff was, in general, was not very helpful in recommending places to eat or making reservations. The night staff, however was very congenial.
Our group was so unhappy with the accommodations that we felt a discounted rate should have been offered, but was declined by the desk clerk who said he would gladly have done so but had no authority to do so and the manager was not available. Not even a complimentary breakfast or other amenity was offered to assuage our discontent.

I m very sorry to have had to write this poor review, but I really do not wish for any other vacationers Tre similarly disappointed.

Dear rwmostmd, thank you for your review. We deeply apologize for the dissatisfaction of your stay. We are dissapointed to read about your experiences but we appreciate very much bringing them to our attention. Your comments are being dealt with within management. I can assure that this is not the standard of our service and after our current renovations are finished we still hope for another opportunity to exceed your expectations. Warmest Regards, Daniela Guest Relations

Stayed for three nights when I was attending a conference. The hotel is situated a 15 minutes walk from the city center.

Found the receptionist on arrival not very hospitable. No information about breakfast or any other facilities.

The room was large with a very good bed, but that’s it. The room is outdated and old fashioned with carpets and old furniture. The bathroom has the same standard. If you’re taking a shower, you have to let the hot water running for 15 minutes before you get a hint of hot water.

The breakfast is supposed to be really good- I found it ordinary. The breakfast staff was friendly.

The hotel is under refurbishment - it’s needed!

The hotel prices in Reykjavik are high du to high demand, but I think you can find much better hotels for the same price.

The hotel common spaces are under construction...and they should have started on the rooms! They are worn out and the beds are terrible. There is clean amazing water all over Iceland, but not here. The sulphur smell and brown water was unbearable. We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Borg and for $100 more per night we should have stayed there the rest of our trip! Had we not packed and unpacked once already we would have checked out. Breakfast is free for some, but not all. Beware of what you book.

After reading all the terrible reviews we were very nervous about going to the radisson blu saga. We had booked last April. The hotel is under construction but we all had a great experience. We had 4 rooms and they all were clean and we did not hear any construction at all. We had breakfast every morning and it was very good. A little expensive. We went to the restaurant upstairs and had a fantastic meal. The service and food were amazing.
