We stayed here for two nights as part of an Iceland Air organized trip to see the Northern Lights in February 2012. The hotel feels like an airport transit hotel. It's on the edge of the domestic airport airfield but the terminal is a taxi ride away on the other side of the airlfield. The hotel is nowhere near downtown Reykjavik so you have to get the shuttle bus or a taxi. It's a big hotel so breakfast was very busy but there was a good choice of food. The rooms looked like a travel lodge - nothing special but functional. If I went back to Reykjavik I would look for a hotel nearer the downtown area so you can walk to restaurants etc. Having said that it is perfect as a transit hotel to get to the bus station or the domestic airport.

I could say so much about this hotel after I only spent 5 nights there...
The hotel in it self is of course not really pretty from the outside but really you sleep inside anyway. Great contact with the reception and very comfortable room. The bathroom was a bit tiny but rather clean. Water-boiler in the room, quite convenient:) The airport beside the hotel is not really of a problem.
The walking distance from the city-center, though, wasn't particularly fun when you travel solo. You have to walk a bit and pass near and over the huge ring road. The hotel offers bus tickets to get to town which is very convenient at day. But after the bus services stops you'd rather take a taxi than walk at night along this road! In that aspect the hotel is a bit isolated. I thought some evenings, after long journeys of sight-seeing, I could enjoy the swimming pool.. but it closes at 20:30.. too bad.
I went there one morning because if you don't, you really miss the whole point of this hotel! The only hotel in Reykjavik to have a pool. I was "welcome" but a girl that couldn't really be bothered to hang up on her boyfriend and showed me the way to the pool, phone on the ear! when she understood I wanted to have some info about their spa services. She ended the phone communication, a pretty sour and didn't really informed me about the pricing, which leaded me the next day to almost pay for a full price pedicure (almost 10.000 ISK!)! Luckely the esthetician (very competent) was really kind and gave me a 20% discount for the misunderstanding. I still got really stressed afterwards since I hadn't planed to spend so much in spa expenses. Stress doesn't really go with spa! anyway, the pool and its areas is devine for sure! hot bath, very hot bath, stream room, sauna, beautiful colors, refreshing areal, Soley shampoo and conditionner in the shower and hairdryers.
the restaurant, at last, was pretty much a disaster! I did try it few times and ended up enjoying cereal bars and a coffee at the bar area. The meny looks great!, and pricing is ok, although plates are tiny served, so at the end you feel like you have overpaid the plate. Most of the staff doesn't have a clue of what they are really doing there or in the restaurant business at all I felt! the first night I had to call the chef because my plate of selected Icelandic cheeses was terrible, he looked at me as I was from Mars and I just explained him that I'm pretty sure you can find decent and delicious cheeses on Iceland but at this restaurant it was certainly not the case. The brie was dried and felt into pieces like paper, the other cheese (which was??...no idea) was way too mature (they tried to disguise it in removing the over-mature parts of it but it still tasted dreadful) and the flatbread was burnt! I thought the kitchen staff was really laughing at my face if I was to eat that, pay for it and pretend to enjoy it aswell! The chef didn't look like he really cared and I started to wonder if the staff isn't totally demotivated in this hotel..
the second time I tried a meal, i ordered a starter, tiny portion really.. but good. Although there should have been cheese with it, I call the waiter, he assures there no cheese in the dish! I tell him that it was one of the reasons why I choosed that particular dish, so I request he looks at the meny, which he did and observed that indeed there was. When I asked for some info to order another dish, the knowledge about the content of the meny was so poor, that I gave up and didn't even feel adding a tip which is very rare for me. I felt i could be likewise content with a cereal bar for 300 ISK in my room!
Their breakfast is decent, minimalist but products are good.
So.. to conclude/ great bargain for a travel package hotel+flight but eat in town, or don't expect much if you eat in. Enjoy an early spa-swim, it is lovely:) The hotel in itself is very clean and modern, very pleasant!

If you are an American looking for Hilton or Marriott type rooms - drop that notion right now. This is a very nice European style hotel (i.e. small rooms, two twin beds, small shower and toilet, dorm-esqe) with friendly and knowledgeable staff, a good restaurant on site, beautiful walking and biking trails right outside the front door, and an AMAZING spa area in the basement. Heated pool, sauna, steam room, and luxury for free! Well worth it! Also, there is FREE internet in the lobby - two computers available for guest to just use! That's really nice. The hotel is a walk from city center - they say 20 minutes, but if you really walk it (like normal people and not speed walkers) it can take between 20-35 minutes. The shuttle is helpful but very limiting (only 5 times a day). However, city bus is right across the street and simple to use. Overall, this is a great value and a nice quality hotel. Would stay here again if I ever traveled to Iceland again.

If not for the excellent staff at this hotel it would just be an average hotel but they really go out of their way to make sure you are happy and taken care of. The hotel has some excellent amenities such as a very good spa with thermal pool, hot tub, sauna and steam bath. The only real complaint I have is that the rooms are very plain and small with no closet space to unpack and store your clothing or gear. The bar is nice with happy hour specials and live entertainment from 4-6 PM. The breakfast buffet is OK but it is busy and crowded and really not a breakfast that most Canadians I know would really enjoy but it has lots of variety and the fresh breads are excellent and considering breakfast is not a big part of the Iceland diet, its a good way to start the day. (No real breakfast restaurant options in the city...we looked!)

Don't be fooled by the exterior appearance...... this is a lovely hotel, with a spa and indoor geothermal pool. Excellent dining downstairs. I would stay here again, it is within walking distance to downtown yet not in a noisy area. Near university.

Room Tip: We were warned to stay on top floor because the locals like to party hearty into the wee hours...

This is very Nice clean hotel, which provides all you need. It is close to the "beach" you must go to the beach and take a dip in the ice-cold sea. We loved the restaurant and spa.

Room Tip: We got the flora-family room and it is very nice.

We stayed here 3 nights in April 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and the bedtime story night on the Thursday night complete with pillows, blankets, hot chocolate and cookies was a very nice touch for families and even those of us travelling without children. They are the only hotel with an indoor pool (heated at about 85 degrees F) which was a wonderful way to relax at the end of the day.
