I stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel is next to the runway of the city airport in Reykjavik (not Keflavik!) which serves small props. The hotel looks from the outside like a standard apartment building and has ample free parking space. Rooms are small with all standard necessities, including fridge and coffee maker, desk. Bathroom is really small but okay. Rooms are very clean, beds are excellent. Staff is very courteous. The one restaurant and bar in the hotel is average. Downtown Reykjavik is about 2.5 miles walking distance, so not really close. Hotel would be only 3 stars but the very courteous staff made a 4.

Room Tip: One hotel wing was under construction, so it might have some noise connected with it. I stayed durin...

We booked a trip to Iceland after an amazing deal through Travelzoo and we are so thrilled that we did! We upgraded the room to the next category of Poet rooms and are glad that we did. The upgrade gave us free wifi and access to a lovely lounge on the 4th floor that we gathered in after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is about a 25 minute walk to the city centre and there is an infrequent shuttle to the city as well. It is about 10 minutes to the Pearl where we had a quick bite in the cafe. It isn't in the middle of anything but I would still recommend the hotel highly. The rates were so great, the staff was friendly and professional and helped us with all of our requests. The food at the restaurant Satt was excellent. The decor is very Iceland; great design, colour and attention to detail with quirkiness and wit. We also had included a Jeep Tour as part of Essential Iceland tour and was one of the highlights of our trip! Other things to consider is horseback riding! Amazing - through Islenski Hesturinn, and a trip to the Blue Lagoon; we had wonderful in-water massages (so surreal). lunch at the restaurant there and we were so thrilled we did. Many people went there on the way to the airport but we made a day of it and it made it more relaxing.
All in all, an incredible experience. We were in a group of 7 and we all would go back to Iceland in a heartbeat!

We were booked into this hotel through a cruise line a few days before boarding and were looking forward to a site that was convenient to walking around town. To the hotel's credit, they let us check into our room early which was great considering the long flight from the states, but we were shocked with what we found. The room was literally the smallest room I have ever seen, and I have traveled to some budget hotels in the states. It reminded me of a dorm room, although now a days, they might actually be larger! Other guests we met described the same size rooms. We had twin beds and were facing a harsh early summer sun with no central air and windows that only opened a couple inches. Even when we requested a fan, it didn't help and after a few hours we asked to move to a room on the other side of the hotel which was unfortunately right up against the local airport. We traded heat and sun for constant airline noise! And although the hotel claims it is only minutes from downtown, it is actually a 25 min. walk to central Reykjavik. However the staff was helpful and friendly, and the bar (yeah, Dominic!) and restaurant were very good. The decor is modern and the rooms were clean. They are building a new wing to the hotel and hopefully will consider that even if folks are only staying a few nights, they expect a room they can move around in. It certainly prepared us for our ship's cabin which was actually larger than these rooms!

Room Tip: Away from the airport would be best.

I spent a week in this hotel at the end of June. The (standard) room was perfectly adequate for 1 person (might have been a little cramped for 2). The highlight of the hotel for me was the cinema - I saw all 3 of Baltasar Kormakur's films - each time I was the only member of the audience, and the front desk staff were very flexible as to which film I could watch.
The breakfast buffet is excellent. I only ate in the Satt restaurant once - I had the Icelandic fish soup which was good. Other times, being on my own, I opted for the cafe at the Perlan which has a good (and very reasonably priced) salad bar (it's open till 9pm), and the Serrano texmex fast food cafe at the service station - where you can also buy the essential Skyr and sandwiches. Both are about a 10-15 minute walk away.
It is only a 30 min walk into the heart of town - otherwise there's a shuttle bus or the town bus. The town buses cost 350 ISK and only run every half hour; it can be a bit of a challenge making the routes join up without having to wait ages in between, but the buses themselves are easy to use as they display the next stop so you always know where you are (assuming you have got hold of a bus map). A day pass is only 800 ISK and well worth it if you're goiung to make a few trips as it saves the hassle of looking for change.
I can recommend Iceland Horizons for the standard tours (Golden Cirlce, South Shore adventure) and Gavia Travel for specialist birdwatching.

Room Tip: I asked for a room at the front of the hotel, but the view of the town is being cut off by the extra...

I've stayed here before and found it convenient. This time I chose it because I was driving abroad for the very first time and wanted to be sure of easy parking - and there is plenty here! Sitting next to Pearlan, which is worth a visit, it is a 15 minute walk to Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral and from there you are well placed for the rest of central Reykjavik. The hotel has been refitted and is much modernised. Rooms are nicely fitted and quite roomy enough. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of the usual continental type food to choose from. Would stay again.

A short, one topic review. This is a hotel with many families staying. While we were scheduled to stay here, a reservation mix-up found us booked at a sister hotel. However, the front desk staff were friendly, worked out the issue, and sent us by taxi to the sister hotel. When we mentioned we had hoped to join the bed time story hour, they took care of the taxi rides to and from the hotels. Was it worth coming back for the story telling/reading? A definite YES. They even provided pillows and blankets! The Icelandic people have their sagas and it was nice to hear selections from them. "A Giant Love Story" was a feature that Thursday night. "... Is it true that there are giants who steal naughty children an carry them into the mountains?" ... "No, no," said his father. "Giants have more than enough unruly children of their own." An so began the story of Flumbra, Giantress, and her children. You will have to go and listen for yourself to find out the rest - or you may be able to find the book ... our grandchildren love it thanks to our bedtime story hour. Note: during our visit, bedtime story hour was on Thursdays.

We stayed here for 3 nights and the hotel was ok. It is a bit out of the way but they do have a shuttle bus to take and pick you up from downtown. It stops running a bit too early if you like to party into the late night/early morning hours. The lounge is ok for a drink or 2 before heading out. The breakfast buffet was nice and had a great variety of foods to choose from. The room is a bit small and the shower is designed for no one over 5'10" and of average build. It has a working hair dryer and an old TV(only turned it on for the soccer game). It is a converted building from the airport so if you open a window be prepared for allot of engine noise if you are on the back side of it. Our view was on the staircase and offices from the building 20' away. Had to keep the drapes drawn during the work day.

Room Tip: Make sure you room faces the parking lot!
