“Clean, nice hotel”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

This hotel is clean and nice, the restaurants are great as well. We stayed here twice in our trip, once at the beginning and then again at end, before flying back to the United States. The first room we stayed in was extremely small, it was hard to get ready in the bathroom the next morning, but I managed. On the second stay here we upgraded rooms and were pleased with the huge size different. The second room also had a sitting area, which was a bonus. The hotel was located a little bit too far from the city of Reykjavik and requires a taxi ride or car rental - we did both. It was fun to rent a car and explore the city on our on. We would stay here again, but I would prefer staying at another hotel closer to all the action, if I had a choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upgrade if you don't care for tight quarters and rent a car to explore city indep...

We had the pleasure of staying here as part of a package booked through Icelandair. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the lobby, it is so modern and clean. The wooden sculptures adding such an interest, sometime even forgetting they are not real people. Our room was simple, but more than adequate. The best part - no carpet, wood floors throughout. The staff was outstanding, the breakfast buffet very good with so many items to choose from. Free bus passes were included which was great, the bus stop right across the street and a very short bus ride to downtown. Booking this trip was a trust walk, we did not have to worry, it was great.

Room Tip: We were satisfied with our room, really didn't need an upgrade.

Dear traveler

Thank you for giving us such a positive review and we are very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. The wooden sculptures surely are amazing and you must visit our other Icelandair Hotels since there are sculptures to be found in all of our hotels with each and every sculpture describing the characteristics of the hotel that it’s located at.

Thank you again for recommending us to other readers and I will make sure to pass your compliments on to our staff. Hopefully they will see you again soon.

Warm regards,
Trausti Karlsson

Booked this package as part of an offer through Icelandair, which included air/taxes, 3 nights hotel, Golden Circle Tour, breakfast upon arrival, and a pass to the pool/health spa. Upon arrival, we didn't know what to expect as it looks like an old office building circa 1980's Russia. But it's actually quite cute once you get inside. Very kitschy decore with all the wooden people and sheep. Check-in was highly efficient considering they had an entire busload to get through, people who had just arrived on an over-night trans-Atlantic flight and were very very tired.

Luckily I had emailed the hotel beforehand and our rooms were ready upon check-in; we dropped off our stuff and headed down for our buffet breakfast before the crowd descended. Interesting choices... Would definitely not have paid $25pp for baked beans, some weird little petrified cocktail sausages, some cakes, and some skyr. The skyr- Icelandic yogurt is fantastic though! Be sure to try it.

Rooms were compact but immaculate. We looked out over the domestic airport and the Pearlan, so had a pretty decent view over-all.

Yes, the hotel is not close to town, but the free bus passes were great- just have to leave a deposit that they return when you hand the pass back in. They even give you the schedule which makes it easy. The bus drivers are great too, making sure you get on the "right" #19 to go back to the hotel, as there are two.

The Soley Natura Spa was lovely. The soak in the thermal pool was perfect after sitting for hours on a long flight. Not sure why they make you pay to use it. Should be included, especially considering the hotel is quite isolated.

We ate at the onsite restaurant Satt for dinner twice only out of necessity. Service is slow to terrible. Staff don't even try. But the fish entrée was excellent, as was their hot chocolate. Prices are high, but they are pretty much everywhere in Iceland.

We were lucky enough to take advantage of their Movie Night held in the theatre. It was quite neat to watch the subtitled movie, which was actually pretty good. There wasn't any popcorn as advertised though, and the pillows/blankets smelled so bad/stale we had to throw them on the floor. It was a nice gesture regardless.

Not sure if I'd stay here again. May choose somewhere more central if I ever return, but I'd recommend it for sure as over-all we had a nice stay

Dear traveler

I am glad to see that you had a great stay with us and that check-in was efficient and comfortable for you. I however have to apologize for the slow service that you experienced at our restaurant. I will make sure to pass your complain along to our restaurant manager who will take necessary actions. I will also make sure to notify the general manager about the blankets and pillows in the cinema room, we never get complains about our cinema experience so something must have gone wrong on that particular night. I apologize for that but at the same time would like to thank you for notifying us so that we can take appropriate actions.

I am glad to see that overall you had a good stay with us and that you were able to make use of our bus pass, the spa etc. Hopefully you will stay with us again sometime in the future and if you do I advise you to upgrade to a deluxe room for an even greater experience.

Warm regards,
Trausti Karlsson

Don't judge this book by its cover- it looks like a late 70's office building from the outside, but inside it's something different altogether: lots of stone, wood and interesting artwork make it a very pleasant place to be. We stayed in the Pink Suite, which was spacious and comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom. Our kids were in a standard room which was less spacious, but still pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a large selection of fresh bread, fruit and more traditional Icelandic items such as fish and cheese. If the hotel was located closer to the center of town, I would have given it a higher rating, but it was annoying to have to worry about when the bus was going/returning (although the hotel did provide a free bus pass). Still, on the scale of annoyances, this was manageable.

Stayed here on my first trip to Iceland. The hotel appears dated from the outside, and looks like an old business centre. Inside, scandinavian design in lots of natural wood, stone, and minimalist features are quite striking. Rooms are very small, but have comfortable beds and functional bathrooms. Heating was a non-issue.

An important factor is that this hotel is NOT near the downtown core. You do, however, get a free transit pass (I think buses run 2x/hour) with a stop out front of the hotel. You can walk downtown (probably 20-30 minute walk), but there are some busy highways to maneuver.

The restaurant was great, but $45 CAD for Breakfast buffet seemed excessive. Food in Iceland is expensive overall. There are a few "grab and go" options (sandwiches, croissants, and coffee items). Reservations are recommended.
.
We stayed here as part of a Travelzoo deal, so we were out on a lot of tours. Tours were prompt and well displayed screens/signs to help you figure out where to go. The tour desk and front desk staff were pleasant and helpful.

We were a few floors above the banquet rooms, which proved to be a bad thing when a wedding started and the music was booming. When I called the front desk, they offered another room in another wing of the hotel, but we were so exhausted from tours that I couldn't be bothered. There was no consideration of acoustics when building this hotel

We didn't get to use the pool because the pool hours are quite useless late open, early close especially if you're on tours/exploring the city.

There is a regional airport right behind the hotel, but I honestly didn't notice any noise from it.

Overall, this was a pleasant experience, but being our first time in Iceland, I wish we were a bit closer to the town core and other attractions.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the banquet halls if there is a wedding booked.

Cons: location. The are a few other hotels right in downtown reykavik but we got this stay as part of a Groupon package so we didn't have a choice. It's about a 25 min walk into town but they do offer free bus passes that come in handy.
Pros: clean, classic, simple rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Friendly hotel staff. There is an excursion desk in the hotel which is a great help. The breakfast buffet was included in our package and had a nice selection of fresh baked breads among other tasty treats.
Overall, I LOVED my trip to Iceland and my stay at Natura!

Really liked this note and the other hotels in the Icelandair chain. This one has a particularly good restaurant and a nice spa. It's right at the domestic airport, but honestly, I never heard a plane after check in. Staff was nice and attentive.
