Stayed at Cabin a Hotel 4 nights 21st January. The rooms were very small and tiny shower rooms but we weren't in that much. Breakfast was traditional and buffet style, we didn't eat in the hotel otherwise. There was a mix up with reception booking a trip pick up for us and the tour operator and staff were apologetic. The female reception staff were very please ant and helpful whilst the men barely spoke or acknowledged customers.
It was clean throughout. A good 10-15 minutes walk into centre. It fitted the bill for us and we had a great trip.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

All the reception employees are not friendly or willing to help you. De ladies from the buffet are friendly and very pleasant people. The breakfast includes a variety of choice. It's great. We we're shocked about the size of the rooms! I mean, it's called 'cabin hotel' but the rooms are like cabins on a boat! (or even smaller) There's no room for your suitcase (under the bed) It's hot in the room. You can turn the heater off, but there's still a pipe going through the room that gives a lot of heat! We slept without blankets! (outside was -1 C) There is one other positive thing, there's a busstop almost in front of the hotel. But I won't do it again!

Room Tip: Pick a suite!

Just returned from a 3 night stay at hotel cabin and honestly can say I haven't got a bad word to say about the stay! After reading reviews before I went I was a little worried about what size the room would be like. Well we arrived about lunchtime and booked in and went straight to our room which was on the 6th floor number 627, and were very pleasantly surprised at how spacious it actually was especially after seeing photos of other rooms. We had plenty of room to both walk around without having to squeeze past each other, had room to store our suitcase opposite the wardrobe. Ok the bathroom was small but the shower was very powerful. The room was warm and the bed was comfy and had good night sleep. We had a sea view and view of the garage. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are booking to see the northern lights I would recommend booking to go on your first night just in case the trip is cancelled or you don't actually see them because you can then book to go the following night for free. Getting into the town will take about 15-20 minute walk just turn left out of the hotel. The walk along the sea front has great views. If you don't want to walk then there is a bus you can get onto and the stop is just outside the hotel (bus number 12). If I go back to Iceland then I would definitely stop here again.

Well !!!weve just returned from the cabin, when we arrived we nearly died at the size of our little room and wondered how on earth we were going to manage for a week,.
We ended up loving our little room, all cosy n warm,
The heating was plentiful.
Try the salad bar on an evening , it really was lovely. Breakfast was really good too.
Best part of my review goes to the staff, especially nini,,she was receptionist who helped me a great deal.
Do not be put off my reviews it really was good,,
PS. When walking to the town just go left all the way down when leaving hotel,

We have just returned from a four night stay at the hotel Cabin. We were really not expecting much as we had the hotel booked for us through a third party travel agency, and some of the reviews I had read were not very complimentary. But when we arrived we were both surprised and very happy. Our room was a double deluxe, very clean and warm. It was a good size and the bed was super comfy - something that is very important if you are doing lots of sight seeing. Breakfast was great. More than adequate selection of food.

We did lots of organised sight seeing trips and the hotel staff were so helpful in confirming and managing our bookings. They really couldn't do enough. We had dinner twice at the hotel, nice hot food but don't expect posh fine dining. The menu is largely salad based but there was always a hot option and two lots of soup, as well as a soda machine, water and hot drinks. We paid 1850 ISK which was much cheaper than eating out. It was perfect for when we had done long long day trips and needed something quick and filling.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Reykjavik!

Booked Iceland for my partner's 30th and my friend stayed here last year so recommended it to me.

Please don't book in here expecting 5* - it's not but what you get is a clean and basic room. We stayed 19th-23rd January and I booked the Northern Lights tour twice, The Golden Circle with Snowmobiling and the Blue Lagoon. After doing all this, I was exhausted and fell into bed every night, sleeping with no problem.

The shower was clean and plenty of hot water. Towels changed daily.

It is a twenty minute walk into town but if you come out of the hotel and turn left and walk for 10 minutes, you come to a lovely hamburger place. If you're pushed for time, there's a Subway and garage over the road. I used the garage to buy a phone charger I'd forgotten and drinks for the room.

We only had the breakfast on one day and this was lovely. Continental but fresh bread, etc.

We had the standard room and there is space under the bed for cases.

We're looking at going back to Iceland and would definitely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel, clean, modern with friendly staff, ideally located for exploring the city which is a comfortable 15-20 minute walk away. We upgraded to a deluxe room which are slightly larger than the standard. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. Service from the staff was excellent, no matter what time of day - even at 4am when we checked out!
The food the restaurant for the evening meal is a limited menu, but well presented and very good value for money.
