Horrible

Review of Hotel Cabin
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Sept 2019via mobile
The pictures on the site are not what we ended up in. It was a cell, we could hardly move around it was so small and when we opened the window it opened into a corridor! The all day buffet was poor, the breakfast was poor. The location is out of town. Don't go here.

Dear Lozzalot,

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to read that your stay was not how you expected it to be.

You are right, our Standard rooms are very compact. We always ensure that this information is clear on our website. We understand that some of our guests do prefer a more spacious room and if we were aware we could have offered you a possible upgrade to one of our Superior rooms.

Cabin is located near many attractions, major intersections and also very convenient to public transportation. Our postal code is 105 Reykjavik therefore the next neighbor to downtown 101 Reykjavik.

We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to identify the areas we can improve.

Hope Iceland in general was extraordinary.

Sincerely,
Hotel Cabin team

Came on a pre-booked tour where I only had the choice for the superior room, which proved to be good luck for me since all the other rooms were extremely small and had youth hostel quality, some of the room doors even opened to the hallway since there was no room. My Superior room was just perfect, on top floor with great view of the seashore, large comfy bed, great bathroom with wonderful shower, desk. large TV, fast wifi, much space to put suitcase and hang jackets. Electric kettle for coffee and tea. Breakfast included but that was nothing special, just a few breads incl. crisp bread, hardboilded eggs, some meat, cheese, cereal, free water to fill your bottles for the trip. Extremely overcrowded at certain times since this hotel seems to be the preferred place for (student) groups. Staff okay (could be friendlier though), but the lobby has nearly no space so when we arrived some of us had to wait on the sidewalk in the rain before we could get in to get our keys.
Close walk to the seashore/ boardwalk and some places to eat/ small convenience store in the near vicinity.

The hotel cabin is at the cheaper end of the market. The rooms are small but very clean.
The staff are very helpful the buffet breakfast is good but nothing hot is available.
The lunch evening meal buffet is very reasonable for the price soup two choices, salad lots of choices, a main course and fruit for dessert and is available from close of breakfast until evening. The website suggests its only available weekdays but we were there at the weekend.
The flybus from the airport drops you at the door.
All excursion companies seem to have pick ups available
You can see the sea from the road side of the hotel. The promenade walk is easily accessible, walking to town takes around 20-30 mins.

Room tip: Ask for a sea view

Whether it be for biz or pleasure, this hotel fits the mark. It is clean, modern (very IKEA like) and the staff are very helpful. The location is a bit of a walk downtown but you can easily hop on the #12 bus across the street if you are feeling lazy! The breakfast buffet is quite ample and there is a salad bar open all day for the hungry traveler! The lobby area is very comfortable and there is a bar/ gift shop there as well. We had a superior room on the 7th floor which is a little bigger than the standard room. I would definitely stay here again!

Friendly staff who are so willing to help. Bus almost at door into centre of city which is about 8 mins away. Many tour buses will pick up from the hotel. Beds are comfy and spotlessly clean.Plenty of food options around the hotel if you want a change from the resteraunt.

Don't get this hotel wrong: it's budget, and it's simple. The staff is polite and helpful, the breakfast is ok, the room is clean and small and that's it.
There is a supermarket and many cafés and restaurants nearby, and the city centre is 20min walk or a bus ride away.
