Having just returned from Iceland having had a very good time I felt that I had to review the hotel which we stayed in. I booked this as a package and had read previous reports about it being clean but the rooms small. So with this in mind I do not know what the cost of the hotel would be to book on it's own, but to say the rooms are small is an understatement, our room was a little tatty with a broken lamp socket and some stains on the bed base and not sure what they where!
Despite this the room looked relatively clean but they should not be difficult to keep clean when they are the size of a postage stamp. When we arrived at the room we could not believe the size as they were like going into a cupboard! The beds were also very small so if you are very tall or a bit larger in size I would avoid these basic rooms as they really are small!! This was commented on by a number of other people in the hotel of various ages, I do believe they have deluxe rooms, although not sure how much bigger these where or the cost of these. The rooms for us were ok for a few days but would not like to stay in one for a week. On a previous reviews it stated it was a 20 min walk to the city center but timing it this was more like 30 mins. The bar area in the hotel was lacking atmosphere and a bit clinical although provided nuts on the bar. It could do with some changes in this area but not sure what - it needs to be made more welcoming. On the plus side all the public areas were very clean, the staff were always pleasant and always ready to help. The breakfast provided was a continental breakfast which was the same everyday but was adequate. On our morning of leaving breakfast was provided despite being up at 4.30 am as they were geared up for this as flights left early.
We thoroughly enjoyed this Icelandic break and we were able to fit a lot in but if staying in Iceland again I might choose something nearer to the city centre. As for the rooms - After all size really does matter!!!

We stayed here last weekend. Booked through Iceland Air as a package including flights and a day tour so weren't able to break down exactly what we paid for the hotel. We had emailed in advance to confirm our booking and requested a double room when we booked.

On arrival at 2am we were given a tiny room with 2 tiny single beds. Although it was clean it was very basic. My husband, a tall chap went back down to reception to see about options and to see if we could get at least a double room. The answer was no and that they didn't have double rooms, only twins. We were also told to just move the beds together. Well the photos on their website clearly show that they do in fact have double rooms. 3am by now so we went to bed.

Breakfast was provided and although basic fine for a budget hotel. However we were also rung at 4.30am in the morning on our last day by reception for a pick up to the airport. Wasn't us and we hadn't booked or requested.

Advice; you'd be better off in a hostel where the staff tend to be friendlier or paying a bit more and going elsewhere. The only bad bit of an otherwise amazing trip to Iceland.

Rooms were basic, (no kettle) and there was cold broccoli at the salad bar but the breakfast was great and it was opposite subway and we had an amazing view of the mountains from our window. I would definately stay again!

This is an excellent basic hotel, as noted by others rooms are small but adequate (named because rooms are like cabins!). Great showers (constant hot water) and a very good buffet breakfast. Salad bar is cheap and filling. Nice 20 minute walk into town along the beach track.

We had a 4 night stay, early Feb., and had no problems whatsoever. The staff were very helpful, polite and efficient and the hotel was very well run. Our rooms were small, but we'd expected that, and we didn't need anything bigger as we were out all of the time anyway. We slept very well, no noise from ANYWHERE, and we had very comfortable beds and pillows. We were warm and totally OK with what we'd payed for, surprised by the lovely choice at breakfast ( wonderful breads & rolls especially) and very pleased we had the restuarant to use in the evenings, if we wanted it. It may have been a bit too much to trek into town to eat , tho' we did walk back from there a couple of times and found it ok to do, one way. The evening meal at the hotel was actually ok too, the salad bar was appetising, but maybe the hot food wasn't always brilliant. No complaints at all, go and enjoy it. Could see Yoko's Laser Light for John out of our window, and since we've been home, have seen the Northern Lights clearly in the sky behind it, via the web-cam (of course). What more could you ask for!! And we had breakfast on the day of our departure, at 4.30 am. Never had that before! Full marks for that alone!
