Hotel Odinsve was immaculate throughout; the staff were all friendly, attentive and genuinely nice to everyone that I saw them speak to. They can't do enough for you ;) Our room was clean, really well presented - and fantastic value for money. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the centre of Reykjavik - and is co-located with a restaurant and bar.

We had a fantastic time in Iceland - and will be going back in the summer for another long weekend. There's so much to do, so much to see - and everyone we met was lovely. It's clear that as a country, Iceland is focusing more on tourism - by the investment we saw at the attractions that we visited (Golden Circle with http://www.icelandprivatetours.is - I will be writing them a fantastic review too !).

We will be booking back into the Hotel Odinsve for our summer trip - and are looking forward to it already ;)

Room Tip: We saw 3 rooms (we were with two other couples) - and they all looked excellent ;)

Small boutique style hotel just a few minutes walk from the port and the main street in Reykjavik. Nice little bar and restaurant next door which was very busy at night and popular with the locals, We ate in there just once and the food was fine.

Hotel reception staff couldn't have been more helpful' They were able to advise us about the various tour options and, once we had decided what we wanted to do, they arranged everything and charged the trips to our room. All we had to do was turn up in reception at the right time and step onto a bus. Couldn't be easier.

We enjoyed wonderful sightings of the northern lights. Keep an eye on the Icelandic Meteorological Office to determine best time to go out looking http://en.vedur.is/

We stayed in the apartments of the Odinsve Hotel a couple of blocks away from the hotel itself just around the corner from the main shopping street. They dont look much from the outside but are done to a very high spec inside. We had a large 2 bedroomed apartment with a large corner lounge with views out onto the Hallgrimskirche up the top of the street.
Positives, large well furnished, comfortable couch, beds and spacious bathroom with all you could need to cook and be independent including washing machine in bathroom, cable tv, phone (free local calls).. Nice views up the street to the cathedral and out the side window over to the mountains (4 apartments, we were on top so maybe the lower ones have a less good view).
Negatives, and this the only reason I didnt give an excellent, one of the bedrooms faced the street on which the Koffiebarinn restaurant/bar is. On the weekend this is one of THE places to be in Reykjavik, and thus the party goes on thru the night, and its loud. I think the first night we fell asleep around 3am and the party was still going. The second night we swapped bedrooms (face different streets) and slept fine and the kids were able to sleep thru the noise in the other bedroom. Of the other three apartments one is same set up directly below thus you can avoid the noise but I think the other apartments only face the 'noisy' street so theres no escape. That said if you are staying there during the week ie not Fri or Sat night it should be a good bit quieter as Fri/Sat are the main party nights and midweek is much quieter. Other small negative is that you are on the 1st or 2nd floor and thus have 2 or 4 flights of narrow stairs to get your suitcases up, we travel light and are young so no probs but if you like big suitcases and are a little less nimble it will be a struggle as theres no lift. Finally theres no free parking outside, nearest free spot is up by the cathedral which is a good uphill 5 minute walk away. Location other than maybe the noise issue is great just off the main shopping street Laugavegur and within a few minutes walk of shops restaurants etc (the main hotel is only another couple of blocks away) and the street that the apartments is on also has plenty of shops and cafes, including a supermarket just up the road.
Hotel itself looked nice, we only saw it when we checked in and we didnt eat there so cant give advice on it. Staff were friendly and helpful and can organise tours/pick ups if necessary. They did give great advice to try Laundromat restaurant/bar/cafe as a FANTASTIC spot downtown for familys, great food, good prices and very kid friendly. Dont be put off if you have no kids, the basement is the play area so upstairs is almost kid free!
Overall other than the noise issue I cant knock these apartments they were by far the most comfortable, spacious, modern, well situated and best value for money spot we stayed in during Icelandic holiday.

Room Tip: Try for the larger corner apartments, nice view of church and quieter.

Located just off the main shopping streets and less than ten minutes from the harbour front, in a quiet suburban side street. The staff are all excellent, helpful and full of smiles. The rooms are basic, very clean but have a TV, mini bar, ample robe space and drawers, tea and coffee making facilities and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is served, again with a cheer in the adjoining Snaps Restaurant. There is a good selection of all the usual fare, plus hot cooked breakfast if preferred. The Snaps restaurant gets booked quickly (mainly by locals - a good sign), but bookings can only be taken before 1830. The food, service and presentation is very good. You really cant ask for more on a City Break. A little gem!

Loved my stay at the Hotel Odinsve. The place was friendly, clean and conveniently located on a quiet side street near one of the main avenues.

The staff made for an exceptionally pleasant stay. They were helpful, responsive and full of great suggestions--as good as any top concierge I've ever worked with.

The hotel is also adjacent to a top-rated restaurant called Snaps which was an added bonus for breakfasts and dinner.

The only reason I didn't give Hotel Odinsve five stars is that the room (a single) was a bit small and the decor is clean and pleasant but not five star. Great little hotel in every other way, however. Highly recommend!
