We booked 6 months ahead,after a recommendation.
On arrival,we were told the our table was in bar area, rather than downstairs restaurant.
When we objected, the Maitre d,said "if we didn't like it we could go somewhere else.
After an argument, we got a secluded table downstairs.
We stayed, but did not enjoy the meal.
when we complained ,the general manager apologised for the M Ds behaviour
He also said when they take bookings they do not differentiate between the main restaurant and the upper bar area.

If you want a place where you cannot go wrong and want real variety on the menu with traditional and trendy food, I highly recommend this restaurant. It is upscale but not stuffy. They offer a tastings menu which was exquisite and gave a few apps, main courses, and dessert. It was very impressive and all was done perfectly. I know people complain about the prices but you're in Iceland on vacation and you're complaining about paying too much for Puffin sliders, whale steak, or organic lamb that was washed in a volcanic geyser by a viking (slight exaggeration)?

I really enjoyed my meal here but fair warning, it's not cheap. The whale, puffin, and lobster mini-slider trio is a must. Whale and puffin are both excellent. The mixed seafood started strong with the cod, but the trout and redfish weren't as good. The grilled mushrooms were nice but way overpriced. I recommend for the setting and experience.

This was exactly what we were looking for on our first night in Reykjavik - it was a truly special experience, from the food to the decor to the waitstaff.

The trout was delicious!

What a restaurant! The interior was very thought-out and atmosphere was nice. We were seated so that we kind off got our own stall, which was really nice; it was almost quiet, even though the restaurant was full. And wow, the food! Possibly the most tender tenderloin I've ever eaten, and the fries were heaven! The cocktails were really good too. The only reason I'm not giving this full score, is because of the experience I had at Fiskmarkadurinn; the waiters were slightly more attentive and "alive" there.
