Red Rock Cinema - The Volcano Show

The weather was appalling out after lunch one day so me and my boyfriend decided to go to this after lunch at the harbour. It was interesting to watch the videos about the volcanoes and the affects on the country. However it takes the guts of 2 hours so if you are limited with your time you could probably watch a documentary on them at home!

The movie was very interesting. Not just the pictures of the volcano but it captured the islands destruction as well as the determination of the people to save and reconstruct their village and life. I was very impressed by all of it. The only complaint we had was we didn't know where it was in relation to Reykjavik.

Well worth a visit (especially if its raining/snowing/cold outside!), take a hot chocolate from the cafe in and watch interesting footage of various eruptions in the warm. About 40 minutes long, so not tedious.

There are a few small cinemas in Reykjavik showing volcano films but we liked this one. The owner is the film maker and happy to chat. He has a nice dry sense of humour. Some of the footage is spectacular. Almost unbelievable to see buildings being burned and swallowed by advancing lava as people try to rescue what they can. Definitely worth a visit.
