“The real opera house (and not Harpa, as so many reviews mistake it to be).”

This is the very humble opera house in Reykjavik.
Almost all of the reviews of this place are mistaking it for the stunning Harpa concert hall by the waterfront.
The Reykjavik opera, however, resides in this building, which is anything but unique.

Wow, what an impressive building both inside and out. We didn't go and see a concert here, but spent about 30 minutes looking around. Combine with a trip to the Sun Voyager sculpture for some awesome photos.

what an incredible experience. The opera house is a sight to see and the production is beautifully done.

This modern building is so beautiful in design inside and out, so many shapes and views that you have a wide choice of photographic subjects. A lovely café to sit drinking coffee and taking in the interior design.
Well worth a visit

The new concert hall is really a characteristic building and it deserves a visit even if you are not planning to see a concert. The entrance in the public areas is free, so it is nice also to spend less than an hour exploring the multi-level environments designed to connect the music rooms.
All the building is surrounded by a sort of shield made by irregularly shaped glass windows that make games of lights with the sun.
In the night the window are lighted with coloured lights which give vivacity to the building, breaking the regular structure of the architecture.
