Well though out and planned rooms. Although they are small rooms, you don't stay there to stay in your room.
Bed were fantastic.

The hotel is close to the center with all restaurants and bars, so you can save your taxi money and walk instead.

They also have a small "portable" bar, that they open in the evenings.

Great, funky, colourful hotel by the harbours edge. Lots of activity at the harbour to see. Excellent location for walking around the city and for sea trips. Really good food and they serve the best cocktails in town.

When booking the hotel we liked the slightly quirky nature of it and we weren't disappointed. From the big open fire in the middle of the lobby at reception with the wooden man sat next to it to the friendly staff who checked us in it continued to impress. Myself and my girlfriend stayed here from 13/03 - 16/03, and whilst some people have mentioned the size of the rooms and the 'frosted glass' en-suite bathroom door I felt that everything was in keeping with the slightly different 'maritime' theme of the hotel and I thought it was brilliant. The buffet breakfast and evening meals were both very good, as were the cocktails, and although the food and drink is quite expensive you'll quickly find that the prices at the hotel are pretty much the norm for the standards you are getting throughout Reykjavik. All the staff are friendly and helpful and they're spoken English is impeccable, I was personally very impressed by the hotel as was my girlfriend and we would definitely go here again and recommend to others that they do to.

Room Tip: If possible ask for room on the side of the marina as the views are spectacular, were were unfortuna...

This hotel gets major points for its' location (right at the edge of Old Town) - but with a few expections the staff is rather rude (service? what is service?). During my 5 days stay I noticed several times they would ignore people waiting for help at the front desk. The lobby shares space with a restaurant / bar, and if you check in on the weekends you can hardly hear yourself at the front desk as the bar spills into the main lobby. The bar "shuts down" at 1, but if you stay on the 1st or 2nd floor the music and people is easily heard. The burger in the restaurant is rather good, but stay away from any of their Thai dishes - simply horrible. I didn't try the breakfast, but I heard from people I travelled with it wasn't great.

My husband and i stayed here 2 nights March 29 and 30th and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Reykjavik! We purchased it in a package thru Icelandair for $709 can for flight and hotel from Toronto.

Thank you to Thor (i hope that is spelt correctly) at the front desk! She was so helpful and friendly!! She helped get us our room a little early as my husband was falling asleep on their comfy couches in the lobby! And when i forgot our converter she let me borrow one to charge my batteries. She would stop and chat and check in on our visit and was genuinely interested. She is an amazing addition to that hotel and made us feel very welcome.

we had our best meal in iceland at Slippbarrin Restaurant in the hotel. i have also done a review on that already but lets just say….. charcuterie plate and a langoustine and beef cheek entree = pure food coma bliss!

this hotel was fantastic…. from the quirky mannequins to the little sayings everywhere. this was a funky, comfy and fantastic hotel! would def stay here again!

Room Tip: stayed in room 319 facing the road on a saturday and sunday night and can say that once in while you...

The Marina Hotel is lovely to see- very eclectic in its décor - beautifully so. The staff is great and the hotel's small restaurant is also great in every way - the breakfast buffet, the food and the staff couldn't be better.
It's a smaller hotel - Icelanders will be at the bar - but mostly it's for those tourists who are looking for a smaller, slightly less expensive hotel - and it is both smaller and somewhat less expensive. But also flawless - except for those frosted walls that comprise the bathroom that can be found in 3 and 4 star European hotels. Some want more privacy than those frosted walls and open to the ceiling bathrooms provide. They're rather 'afterthought' bathrooms - a portion of the room is walled off with frosted glass.
If that kind of bathroom bothers you, this is not the hotel for you. If you'd like to save some money or if you want a Great Location, then this is the hotel for you. The Marina is walking distance to just about everything - great restaurants, a volcano museum, the shopping district, fishing boats, and whale watching.

My wife and I stayed here 3/2-3/5 and loved it. The staff is great, the atmosphere is both trendy and cool while still feeling warm and homey - terrific combination. We stayed in a larger room overlooking the marina and really enjoyed it. Everything was spotless. We also ate at the hotel - breakfast every day and dinner once - which, while as pricey as everywhere else in Iceland (think NYC prices) was delicious and interesting. We plan on returning to Iceland and we have no desire to stay anywhere else. Short walk - less than 10min - to town and stunning view of the bay. We walked by many other in-town hotels I considered but I'm glad we picked this place as it made our whole trip nicer than if we had stayed in town.

Room Tip: We were only on the 2nd floor rather than the 3rd or 4th but the view of the bay was still wonderful...
