King Suite - 5 night stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Aug 2019via mobile
Booked the King Suite for a 5 night stay, fabulous location with stunning views (photos from window)from the lounge window, nice bathroom with both a tub and a walk in shower.
10min walk to the Volcano House, Aurora exhibition and Whales of Iceland exhibit all of which we recommend. 2mins walk to the huge variety of boat trips on offer for whale/puffin watching.
Breakfast is varied, plant milks on offer and plenty for both meat eaters and veggies.Breakfast staff smiley and friendly.

Downsides: Check in on arrival, gentleman at reception was efficient but not particularly friendly or welcoming, and after a long day travelling it costs nothing to welcome your paying guests with a smile and smalltalk and a rundown on how the hotel works.
The hotel is on a noisy road junction at the back, if you want fresh air and your windows open then be prepared for traffic noise, same noise level out the front from smokers congregating from the bar in the evenings.

Dear Windymiller23,

Thank you for staying with and for taking your time to share your feedback in regards to your recent visit at our property. It is also nice to hear that you found our location convenient to all the tour activities you joined during your visit in Iceland. In addition to, it is also nice to hear nice compliments towards our breakfast staff. However, we apologize for the unpleasant behavior of one of our reception staff, I will make sure to mention it to our management department.

Hotel was lovely with small quirky details- check out the wooden art work at the gents toilet!! Room was great, very clean and good to have balcony. We liked that there was a working dry dock right outside that we could see the progress as boats were renovated!! Breakfast food was good, bit of a wait for the tea/coffee area as self service but nothing that good manners and patience cant sort! Staff efficient and friendly!

With all the choices in Reykjavik, I would choose somewhere else. We chose this hotel because it had a room that slept a family of five. The room was a partially underground room 3 feet from the road so the road noise and sidewalk foot traffic noise/voices was constant. The hotel provided earplugs, but if you are a light sleeper at all this isn't the place. It was clean. I liked the location near the ships. The parking lot was filled with very large nails. I know that isn't the hotel's fault. This was the beginning of our ring road trip and we were afraid we would end up with a flat tire though. I think I could have overlooked some of these things had we had a great reception/front desk experience. We didn't have to interact with them often, but the 4-5 times we did they were just unpleasant and unfriendly. A smile would go a long ways. Since this was the first place we stayed in Iceland, we thought maybe it was just the way things were. Our next ten days, we met wonderful smiling, friendly people so I don't think that was it. Next time, we are in Reykjavik we will give somewhere else a try.

Family room was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Coffee machine was bonus for early morning coffee. Breakfast was simple. Booked many tours with hotel. When I saw the bank statement the currency exchanged rate ( price ) was higher than what I saw when I was booking at the desk so beware of the exchange rate when you pay with your card! After all we had good stay and Bar/ restaurants staffs are very lovely.Cookies are in bag hand on door knob right outside of door was big surprised and our children love it.

We loved our stay the Icelandair Marina Hotel. Check in was a breeze and the rooms were fantastic. We had an attic room which included a balcony that added to the fantastic nature of the hotel. Definitely a great stay and recommend.

I spent one night at the Marina. Location worked for me as I booked some activities departing from the Harbour. Rooms are really small and could be a little bit noisy; however the hotel offers several areas to compensate (library, video room, etc).
