I stayed here 5 nights. This is a budget hotel. I was a little skeptical of booking here, but was very happy that I did. Rooms, bathrooms are clean. The front desk staff are very accommodating. The hotel is located just two blocks from the main shopping street in tho old town, and within walking distance of the major restaurants and things to see. The hotel offers a nice buffet complimentary breakfast.

I would stay here again.

This hotel was in an ideal location - it was near the waterfront which made a great walk in the evenings where you could watch the northern lights, as well as being close to the town so handy for restaurants and shops. The is a supermarket to the back of the hotel, however there is a cheaper one just a little bit further in the main street.
In the room there was a hairdryer and shampoo/shower gel - these were fixed to the wall. There was also a tv but we could only find one English channel, not that you really want to be watching tv when there is so much to do in Iceland! There is also tea/coffee facilities. The room is very warm so no need to wrap up indoors.
We arrived late at night and were asked if we wanted to upgrade rooms, I didn't ask the price for this and said no. Unless you are someone who is in your room a lot, if you want to enjoy the view it is simply a couple of minutes to walk down the road and you can enjoy it there. Many of our trips were back late, so I didn't see the point in paying extra, as the room was perfectly adequate for our stay.
Breakfast is between 7 - 10, and there is a good selection. There were plenty of tables for the morning rush which is around 7.30 due to many trips picking up around 8.30.
There are a few seats in the lobby you can wait on for your trips - I would suggest you know which companies you booked with - it was quite funny to see people rushing outside the minute any bus turned up and then having to turn back when it wasn't theirs. The companies we booked with were all small trips and had put to wait in the lobby and they simply came in and called your name - simple.
There is free wifi which works in the rooms as well as in the public areas. I am not sure whether you were supposed to leave your key when you left as someone mentioned on here - this wasn't mentioned at check in, so we took ours with us when we went out.
Reception can get busy at times, so sometimes common sense is needed - people were asking in the morning if the northern lights trips were on - the companies do not make decisions until later in the day so the staff cannot tell you at that point if they are running or not. They do put a sign on the desk in the evenings to say that the trips are on (I think this was for the big coaches), so be patient!
I highly recommend staying at the Baron.

This is the perfect hotel for a stay in Reykjavik! Located right near the centre everything is within walking distance.

I stayed with my mum originally in a twin room however the room was very small and we went down to request an ocean view room. Unfortunately they had no Twin ocean views available but we upgraded to a large room with a large lounge like area with beautiful views of the mountains and sea! We paid a little more for this but I'd definitely recommend it.

There's wifi in the hotel which I made full use of to post photos of our stay to social networking sites!

Breakfast is a buffet but excellent range of food all very fresh and constantly replenished by diligent staff. They have cereals, pastries, bread and toaster, fruit, yoghurt, meats and cheese and crackers and my favourite a waffle machine with the mix and toppings to create yourself.

Dinner option is only soup and bread so we Always ate out but you're so close to all the restaurants this is not an issue! Bar prices very reasonable.

All the staff very attentive and helpful. We had a husky sledding trip booked and reception called to check everything was ok with it at my request. They will happily arrange other tours for you and arrange your transfer to the airport.

There is a stong sulphur smell from the hot water which is normal for Iceland hotels which takes a while to get used to. Cold Water is lovely and tasty! A few things in the room were broken or a little shabby looking but didn't detract from our stay.

Yes it could do with a makeover but this hotel has everything you need for a wonderful stay and in the perfect location!

We just got back last night from a 4 day stay at this hotel. Well what can I say other than brilliant. Yes the room was a bit small (number 236) but you're not there to stay in your room all the time. The rooms are clean and tidy, just remember to turn the heating down a bit or you'll be too hot. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was a buffet which ranged from omelette, sausages and waffles to fruit, cheeses, ham etc. The location is brilliant, 2 minutes from the sea front and 2 minutes from the main shopping street. The tours that are available are many and there's something for all tastes and energy levels. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, and would love to go back again.

Room Tip: We had room 236 which is right at the back and was nice and quiet

I stayed here for 3 nights in mid February with my parents and brother for a short break to see the Northern Lights. On arrival we did not get the rooms we had requested when booking, but they sorted it out fairly quickly.

The reception was manned 24 hours which helps when you can get back very late from seeing the Northern Lights and when the return flight back to Gatwick means having to get up at 4am!

There is a buffet breakfast which has cereal, fruit, bread, omelettes, sausages and a selection of biscuits. The hotel offers an early breakfast for those leaving on early flights which was a pleasant surprise on arrival.

The hotel staff are more than happy to assist with transfer bookings to the airport and excursions out to the various sights.

Free wi-fi in all areas off the hotel and no problems encountered with it which is a refreshing change for hotel wi-fi!!

Rooms and the hotel in general was very clean.

The location was good, with a view across the sea to the mountains just across the road from the hotel. Central Reykjavik being only a 5 minute walk away.

Would definitely stay here again.
