This hip hotel in the center of downtown was an amazing part of our special trip. We were married in Iceland and the concierge, Elisabeth went out of her way to assist with many of the details. We enjoyed having drinks in the very hip lounge/bar and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is perfect to access all of downtown shopping and nightlife. I can't wait to return to Iceland and will absolutely stay here again. If you are looking for a fun, high quality spot..look no further!!

Room Tip: We had a beautiful view of the marina!

We stayed here for five days in mid-April and I wish we could have stayed for longer. Everything was top shelf, from the location to the staff and the room. It was very central, only one minute walk to a popular shopping street, and five minutes walk from "downtown" Reykjavik with lots of good restatuants. The breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely like to come back!!

This is a lovely trendy hotel at Reykjavik. We stayed for 3 nights here in Feb2013, travelling from London.

* Location – Great location! Easy to get to from the airport (we hired a car); near to many lovely restaurants, trendy bars and cafes (walking distance); neighbourhood is nice and we felt safe; easy to get to other parts of Iceland. The hotel is only a short walk away from the coastline. There are some parking right in front of the hotel and more parking at a short walk away (3minutes). It’s only 30minutes drive to the closest national park, which is great for Northern light spotting in the evening! We actually saw Northern lights all 3 nights there. One of the nights the Northern light was in a spectacular red!

* Hotel décor – Stylish, minimalistic and very trendy. It has some unique modern arts dotted around the place. The hotel has a fitness room, a nice lounge and a lovely restaurant. The whole hotel is very chic! The hotel was very lively on a Friday night, as the bar is a trendy spot, the hotel attracts a chic crowd to use the lounge. We had no problem at all and once you go up to the bedroom levels, it’s lovely and quiet.

* Room – Spacious, modern and airy. The Bed was very comfortable with nice linen. There are the usuals: minim bar, fridge, safe, iphone docking station, TV, hair dryer etc. Shower was powerful. There was also a standalone bath tub. The temperature of the room is adjustable and always nice and warm (this is important given the sub-zero temperature outside). The windows can also be opened freely from the inside, so it’s great if you want some crisp fresh air to wake you up. Being an OCD, the hotel room is of great standard, very clean indeed!

* View – As it’s a City hotel, there is not much view to speak of, but it didn’t bother us as we were out most of the day anyway.

* Amenities – Toiletries from Aveda, which was lovely. Nice bath robes and brand new slippers were also provided.

* Service – All the hotel staff we have encountered were lovely, always friendly, polite and eager to help. They all speak perfect English.

*Breakfast – It has pretty much all you expect, the food was okay. The restaurant was comfortable.

We will definitely stay again when we are back in Iceland.

Room Tip: The rooms are all of different layouts (we stayed in 2 different ones), if the hotel is not too busy...

We stayed for 7 nights in March / April. It was an elegant modern spacious room with a lovely view towards Harpa and the harbour. A nice stylish bar and reception area, and good value wine at happy hour. Helpful folk at reception. The breakfast buffet seemed fair value compared to breakfasts around town (which we also had) with a good range of choices. We didn't eat there in the evening, nor use the gym.

We stayed for just a single night before heading out to the country but agreed that next time we were in Iceland we would come for a long weekend and stay here. The room was clean, modern and very well appointed and all staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great for exploring Reykjavik and there are some great restaurants nearby. Would recommend Fishmarket.

Room Tip: We were in 315 - good size and great sunlight in the morning. No noise issues, but it was a Sunday n...

I took my fiance away to Iceland for a surprise birthday trip and I chose 101 as I wanted a chic boutique hotel, and it didn't disappoint.
The room was exceptionally clean, modern and beautiful. There were lots of little things in the room which made the stay even more enjoyable - absolutely loved the Aveda bath products.
The staff were friendly and helpful all the time and couldn't do enough for us.
The location of the hotel is terrific as everything you need is within walking distance.
We did not find the hotel noisy and this was something I was worried about - our room was on the second floor and we were not bothered by the party atmosphere in the bar. It was the weekend and it was fun to join in and have that experience.
Loved it and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the Harbour and the view was just beautiful. The room was flooded with light in...

We picked the hotel expecting to stay in a chic, quiet boutique hotel that caters to high-end clientele. When we arrived after our 7am flight, we were told check in wasn't until 2pm but for 10000 ISK they could give us an early check in. We were happy to do it as we were tired. Our room - 404 - was nice, spare and modern but bathroom was about 15 ft away from the bed. There was no door to the shower and very little privacy around the toilet. Otherwise it was well appointed and contemporary -- but rather basic. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful though upon arrival and the location and parking situation was excellent.

However the room had a very strange door. There was no tension in it and the spring was quite slow to close. If you just let it shut itself without guiding the door it would slam very loudly. Many guests inadvertently were slamming doors all day.

With that in mind, our problems started on Friday night .... our second night. A bachelor party was taking place at the hotel and were staying on our floor. We were woken up around 5am by the group returning. They were slamming doors and screaming. By 530 we called down to the desk and the attendant came up to speak with them but the noise didn't die down and we never fell back asleep. The next morning we spoke with the hotel staff who were all incredibly apologetic and nice about everything. They moved us to another floor -- room 515 which had a lovely terrace. However we had the same issues the following night -- this time with other guests who returned to the hotel at 5am and began slamming doors. We were awoken again and called downstairs and eventually by 6am the noise died down but, again, the damage was done.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you wish to have a good night's sleep. It seems many of the guests were interested in staying out very late at the city's bars. I felt like we were staying in a youth hostel and not an elegant or high end hotel because of the crowds and also because of the doors and room quality. Hotel staff should warn people in advance not to slam their doors and they should definitely get them fixed and also better insulate the rooms. For a small boutique hotel with rooms that cost more than 250 dollars a night, I felt like we didn't have any privacy and that we were staying in a dormitory.

The staff however was very nice and responsive but that isn't enough for us to recommend the hotel. We didn't get a peaceful night sleep our entire vacation and after spending long days in the car or sight seeing, that was very disappointing. Don't stay here if you value your sleep and want a luxury experience.
