We stayed here for two nights, we were in the main apartments but at another set of apartments about 100m down the road. Our apartment was spacious, clean and had everything you could need. We stayed here for the price and the location. You could walk everywhere you needed to in the city from here with a lot of sights only a 5-10 minute walk away.

The only slight problem we had is some of the other guests were a bit noisy but to be honest we expected this, however for the location and price we were very happy.

My family of 6 stayed in apartment L157 (3 BR, 2 baths), across the street from the main hotel which had lovely views of the mountains and ocean from the bedrooms. The hotel is ideally located in the center of downtown Reykjavik, near everything, including the bus station if you want to get out of town. The apartment was as pictured--modern, updated, and well equipped, even had a supply of coffee (vital for jet-lagged travelers). The space was fine for us: the bedrooms weren't tiny so we had room to move around, one bathroom was large with a big jacuzzi tub/the other with a shower, and the water pressure was great! Beds were VERY comfortable. THe apt. was perfectly heated: Not too hot and not too cold.

There were a few little things that seemed to trip up the front desk. The electrical converters (we're from the US) that were in our room did not fit the outlets, and we had to ask (twice) for converters that fit. We asked for more towels (there were not enough for the 6 of us) and we had to ask again before we got them. A reading light in the bedroom was not working and we reported it three times, and heard nothing more about it until our last day, when a lovely woman (a brunette, the manager, perhaps)--she was quite responsive to our needs) apologized profusely for not communicating with us about the problem (the light uses a funky bulb that was on order). The front desk staff was hit-or-miss. TO use the hot tub (it's outdoors and it can be COLD getting out!) or the sauna, you have to ask the front desk to heat it up. The first time we used these facilities, the hot tub was not hot (30 degrees C/@80 degrees F) and the sauna was not turned on. So disappointing! The 2nd time, we asked the desk attendant (blonde hair) to get them ready for us. When we went up to the hot tub, it was covered and padlocked, so we had to go back down and ask her to come up and unlock it. She didn't apologize, just smiled in a friendly way and came upstairs (4th floor) to prepare it. Seemed odd that she hadn't considered unlocking it before our arrival.

Be advised that the hotel has no restaurant or bar. They offered good suggestions on where to eat/shop. As other reviews note, the streets of Reykjavik get noisy on weekend nights. Partying abounds and the lively bar scene carries on into the wee hours of the morning. Bring earplugs if your room/apt faces the street.

I will definitely stay at Room with a View on my next Iceland trip since the overall experience was great.

Room Tip: Look at the apt. photos on their website--they are very accurate. Ask for a room where the bedrooms...

My husband chose this accomodation for a surprise 50th Birthday treat for me but it was not the luxury treat we had anticipated. The apartment on the 4th floor did not have any view and was shabby and not very clean [dusty on all surfaces, threadbare bed cover, broken plug, broken blinds and curtains]. we like to cook but the kitchen was not well appointed and had no oven. We were next to the clunky lift [an experience in itself!]. It was also very noisy with the street and bars below - friday night the noise went on till 4.30am and we were up at 6am for the plane. It was an expensive option for us with hotels being cheaper so we expected something special from our treat. It was disappointing that proper attention had not been given to the customers' comfort and expectation. We save up for our precious holidays and were excited to be visiting Iceland for the first time so it was disappointing.
Iceland is great and we would return but not to this apartment.

Room Tip: Be above the fourth floor at the front and away from the lift shaft.

We were moved to this accommodation as our booked hotel had had a fire the week before. Not exactly what we had planned, but certainly excellent in terms of location and had everything we might want for self-catering - essential with Reykjavik prices. I think it was slightly less salubrious than what we had booked, but it served us well. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so for just two of us, there was loads of space. We did actually have a view towards the mountains and down the main street. The kitchen was quite well-equipped. Beds were comfortable and it was all very clean. The bathrooms were good and the showers excellent when you had got used to the smell which I gather is the same for all hot water in Reykjavik.

It seems churlish to mention, but there were issues with the TV and DVD player - the TV only received the Chinese news channel unless you paid extra and the DVD player broke and swallowed our DVD. One or two other features seemed a little run-down; for example, the curtains in the main bedroom had just been cut to size and the fabric had raw edges and no hem, and the blinds in other rooms were a little tatty. Once we had discovered how to turn on the radiators, it was a challenge to turn them off again!

Other than on the Friday night, the apartment was very quiet, and we had been warned to expect street noise then,so it was no surprise.

Overall, brilliant location, excellent value for money and extremely convenient for a mix of eating out and self-catering. Could walk to all points in Reykjavik and close to the bus station and tourist centre for trips out.

Room Tip: At the front and at least on the 4th floor so you get the view

Stayed in a standard apartment room across the road from the main building. The room was very nice with small kitchenette, bathroom and double bed. Furnished nicely with tv, dining table and audio player which can be connected to your iPod. The views from the room were absolutely amazing, would highly recommend!! Also staff and the reception were very friendly and helpful with excursion pickups.

Stayed here as two couples in one apartment in February 2014. We were lucky enough to get our requested room (501), which has a simply stunning view over the harbour to the mountains. The apartments are clean, well appointed and comfortable, as well as being situated slap bang in the middle of the main shopping/eating street in Reykjavik. I have read other reviews about late night noise at the weekends and while there was plenty of noise from the street, we were expecting it and it didn't detract from our enjoyment. We even got to see the Northern Lights from the comfort of our room (although we did jump in the car for a light-pollution-free view as well). Staff were helpful throughout and we were extremely happy with our stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: E-mail before travelling and ask for a room with a genuine view (501 is excellent)

Stayed with two other friends for one night in triple room, beds were super comfortable, didn't hear any noise from street or hallways. Overall, nice design and very spacious - we had 3 single beds, 2 sofas, few tables, furnitured kitchen, everything! Location
excelent, in a middle of everything.
