“Good value hotel”

We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff are very helpful and the room is comfortable. We had a sea view which was amazing. Good central location, would recommend. Although the rooms are basic they are comfortable and warm. There is a good choice for breakfast

We recently stayed here as home base for various Iceland day trip adventures. The location is great, it's steps from Bankastraeti which is the main shopping and dining avenue. You can also easily walk to the harbor or up to Hallgrímskirkja, the big church or to city center. Many of our activities offered pick up and drop off at our hotel which was nice. Breakfast was included in our package and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. It's a step above the basic continental breakfast and more than enough to get you started for an active day. The room we stayed in was very basic but comfortable and functional. The staff were friendly enough and happy to confirm information or make arrangements if asked, but I wouldn't say they were overly enthusiastic. I would say they were professional, we were never made to feel uncomfortable and no one was ever rude. If you're used to a more American-style service or have more detailed needs you might be feel otherwise. Iceland in general is very safe, I never had worries about walking around the area day or night. It's a good choice in this price range and if we go back I would consider this hotel or another in the CenterHotel family again.

One street away from the main shopping street, 10 min walk into central downtown, the harbour or to Icelandic Excursions depot. An excellent location.
We had a standard room which was adequate for our visit. The only downside was there is building work behind the hotel (? where the skatepark was) and to the street opposite the hotel, we weren't affected by this due to weather and time of year but noise may increase over the coming months. However we were so tired from all the fresh air that we slept soundly!

Stayed here for four nights in January 2014. On arrival the check-in process was more painful than necessary, taking half an hour in total and to be honest the receptionist wasn't very amiable. The hotel itself was fine for a city break the location was perfect, literally round the corner from just about everything. However, the room was quite compact and we could have done with some more convenientley located power points. The shower wasn't a cubicle, it was just a corner of the bathroom that had been sectioned off with a shower curtain. The room was cleaned daily and our towels were changed every day. But my main annoyance was the lack of a safe in the room. The buffett continental breakfast was very good, lots of variety but I do think it would be handy of it started a bit earlier than 8am for guests who are off out on excursions early in the mornning.

Although not an attractive building this hotel provides all you need for a city break. The position is very central for restaurants and shops. Tours leave from just down the road, although they do pick you up!! The reception was always manned and the staff helpful. They booked tours for us efficiently.
The rooms are quite small but have all you need, they are clean, have a good shower and a comfy bed.
Breakfast was continental buffet style but we found it good. A bonus us the coffee machine that is topped up all day. When you get back from a chilly day out it is lovely to have a coffee ready.

This was our first visit to Iceland, 2nd – 6th January 2014, during which we stayed at CenterHotel Klopp

Our arrival at the airport promised much as the building itself is immaculate, the toilets were modern, clean and wouldn’t shame many a four star hotel. Our transfer to Reykjavik was pre-booked with Gray Line and this went very smoothly. The company are excellent at what they do as was further proven by the Northern Lights and Golden Circle tours we took with them during our stay.

CenterHotel Klopp is, as the name suggests, located very centrally and the main shopping street is just one block away. The hotel bills itself as three star and I believe this rating is accurate. The room we were given (No 201) was very small, but there was an option to upgrade for, I think, 25 euro per night. Having stayed in small rooms before, we declined the upgrade and actually, apart from a bit of dancing around the bed, we found the room perfectly adequate. Heating was via a very efficient and controllable radiator and the bathroom was a shower/wetroom, washbasin and lavatory combo. All the facilities were very clean and serviced daily. Having requested a quiet room we were at the rear of the hotel, facing what looked like a building site, though fortunately no work took place during our stay. If you decide to book this hotel, it might be worth checking on the progress of this work and whether it will impact upon the quality of your stay. The bedroom area contained tea/coffee making facilities, a mini-bar and a wall mounted flat screen TV. The TV in our room had both ITV2 and 4 tuned in but the reception was poor or non-existent. Fortunately we spent most of our time out of the room and on those occasions when we looked at TV it was on the Icelandic channel which screened movies and programmes in English with Scandinavian subtitles; so no real problem there. Our room was lovely and quiet, though I suspect that this, as in most hotels, depends upon the conduct of your neighbours.

The reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful, especially Agnes, who booked our tours and printed off confirmation emails free of charge. Everyone in Iceland seems to speak English and this was true of those we met who work in the hotel. As a base, the hotel suited our needs well as it was so centrally located and put us within walking distance of many of the main tourist spots including the Harpa, the Lutheran Cathedral and at a bit of a stretch the Pearl. Breakfast was included and this was of the continental variety – for us there was enough on offer to satisfy, but as with all food, this is a subjective opinion.

Overall a great stay and good value for money.

Room Tip: Be wary of the building site to the rear.

Very central location and staff are excellent helping with trips and recommending bars and restaurants.

The breakfast wasn't amazing but was ok and the room was clean but very small.

The hotel was relatively quiet and simple but everything is in easy walking distance including Iceland excursions so no need to pay extra for hotel transfer if getting the bus from the airport.

Right around the corner is the big lebowski bar which is crazy! They accept £ as well at a great exchange rate which was handy when we ran out of cash.

All in all I loved Iceland and this hotel was adequate for our needs.
