“Great price, even better location!”
Reviewed 30 January 2014 via mobile

Myself and my partner have just returned from a 5 day stay at the CenterHotel Klopp in Reykjavik.
To say this was one of the cheapest accommodation listed we thought it was great.
All receptionists (and the Icelandic people) were helpful and friendly and let us check in a few hours before the advertised time.
The room was small but very confortable. The bed was amazing (with 2 individual duvets for added cosiness), the room was warm and the bathroom/wetroom was clean and spacious with plenty of hot water. We could see mountains from the window and had a big flat screen tv, it felt like a luxury apartment at times!
Breakfast is included and was again of a gkod quality. Cereals, pastry, bread, fruit and fish were on offer as well as hot drinks, juices and water. I would have liked jam for my toast but this is a minor thing.
The location was top notch. Right off the main strip Laugavegur, with tens of stores, restaurants and bars a stroll away. We saw numerous expensive chain hotels with much less enviable locations.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CenterHotel Klopp. Note that there are roadworks outside at the moment, affecting 2 sides of the hotel. We were woken early once out of four - not a problem for us but maybe for others.

The hotel is slap bang in the centre of town whet you have access to endless bars, restaurants and shops. The Harbour is within walking distance along with many of the attractions and museums. The downside to this is it can be noisy so it's a trade off, if you sleep well In Hotels like me then you probably won't worry,

The breakfast is served btn 7-10 and is help yourself Buffett, cereal, bread, cheese, meats, pastry, not a vast selection but enough to keep you going, the hot drinks machine is available all day so you can have access 24/7.

The free wifi works in the room not just the lobby and even in the restaurant over the road. There are many Center hotels scattered around the town and if you stand outside you can hook up to their network too.

The rooms are compact and practical the only downside was no draws on hanging space.

On the whole the positives outweighed the negatives and for the price we paid it was ideal and suited our needs,

This hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Reykjavik. Centrally based in town and just one block from the bars, restaurants and main shopping street. All you could want on your doorstep.

The rooms are small but extremely clean and well equipped. I have stayed in smaller in New York!
Breakfast is served in the foyer, traditional continental fayre and plenty of it. Tea and coffee is always available in reception along with water and hot chocolate.

Really enjoyed staying here, the staff are so helpful and really make a difference I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We were only two floors up but experienced no road noise or building works.

this hotel has an excellent location and the beds are comfortable but otherwise it's not much on atmosphere. I stayed as a quick overnight while transferring domestic to international flight, and I wanted somewhere central that wouldn't take long to get to BSI the next morning. For that, it's a perfect hotel.

pros:
-inexpensive (on the Reykjavík scale)
-very comfortable bed
-excellent central location. All the fun stuff of Laugavegur is right around the corner.
-if you get a room facing the non-street side, it's remarkably quiet for downtown Reykjavík on a weekend. (I had room 202)

cons:
-a bit run down. One of the overhead lights was missing a shade, the soap pump in the bathroom didn't work.
-tiny. If you had two people in the room with their luggage, there wouldn't be much space to maneuver. The furniture is very large and the rooms are very small.
-the bar downstairs seems to host some interesting people late at night. When I went down at 5am to meet my bus, there were people still drinking there.
-only for people who can handle extremely bright paint. The wall behind the bed was an aggressive orange-red that alarmed my friend who came to visit. We kept the overhead light off to diminish the effect.
-there is a major road construction site that begins right across the street from the hotel. I'm not sure if it generates noise for people staying on the street side of the hotel but it's possible.

all in all, I'd say this place is perfectly fine, but I'll probably try somewhere else next time I stay in town. Convenient for my plans, given that I spent a total of about 2.5 hours actually sleeping.

Room Tip: 202 doesn't have a glorious view but the non-street side means it's pretty quiet for the loc...

CenterHotel Klopp was very centrally located, which allows you to walk most anywhere in a timely manner. Agnes was VERY helpful at the front desk! Breakfast provides a good selection and coffee/hot tea/water is available 24/7. Our room did not have an alarm clock, but you can request a wake-up call...take a clock if you want to know the time. Shower gel is offered and says you can use it on your hair, but I took my own shampoo/conditioner. I was in room 206, which is right outside the elevator, but never heard any loud noise/people coming from it. The only noise we really had to deal with was the construction right outside the door (and our window), but it didn't begin until 7 am and we were up by then anyway. CenterHotels has multiple locations in Reyjkavik, but overall, I really think Klopp is the best option! :)

Room Tip: Anything that ends in "06" is right across from the elevator, but also very close to the s...

Stayed two nights. Good basic rooms for tourists passing through and needing a pleasant basic base. Large reception with communal seating and small bar. 24/7 complimentary hot drinks self serve facility. Rooms compact, but clean and warm with comfortable bed, tea/coffee making, T.V, ensuite shower and hair dryer. Buffet breakfast selection with cereals, fruits, meats, boiled eggs, cheese, breads and jams which seemed to satisfy the majority staying there. Ideal for access to tours, shopping area, restaurants, bars and sights. The city was easy to walk through and local people were happy to help when we needed advice. If hotel facilities are important to you or you are looking for a long stay I would opt for a different hotel, but it was perfect for what we needed on our trip.

Room Tip: All floors accessed by a good lift. The rooms we used were the same on either side of the building.

Klopp hotel is clean, comfortable and modern with friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in room 307 which overlooked the street (where roadworks were in place, but it didn't bother us) and when looking to the left could see the sea and mountains.
It is located in a perfect position for getting around Reykjavik. A few minutes walk from the harbour, shops and many cafes and restaurants. The staff are great and very helpful and polite and it's so easy getting around with the minibuses picking up and dropping off at the door.
Any negatives? Nothing to speak of really - no teabags (apart from fruit tea) or milk in the rooms but they are available at breakfast. Very few TV channels to watch, but I didn't travel to Iceland to watch TV! Breakfast is fresh fruit, meats, cereals and bread. Toaster is provided but only fits 2 slices so you have to get to it quick! If you fancy a fry up, there is a superb breakfast available 2 streets away at the back of the 'Around Iceland' shop.
If you need somewhere clean and comfy and reasonably priced, Klopp is a great base to stay in when you visit Iceland.
