“great location and perfect for our stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

the room was bigger then we expected hearing that it was very european and small. we enjoyed our stay here it was very easy to get anywhere in the downtown and harbor area. Our room was a bit noisy due to first floor and there is a bar there through the night, there was some construction outside our room as well but it really didn't bother us that much I would get a higher floor room if that sort of thing bothers you. we had 2 twin beds pushed together but they were very comfortable and the blankets were warm. the whole room was warm due to the heating. there were a couple loose floor boards and in the sitting area (seperated by a curtain was very nice) the windows were a bit cold but it had a separate heating system and when we were in there we turned that up. the bathroom was adequate and clean. shower was not a low flow but not a heavy flow either but no problem with warm water. a curtain separated it from the toilet. mini fridge did not keep things cold but the warming pot was perfect for the hot chocolate and tea we brought. closet space was adequate no drawers though but for 3 nights we didn't really need them. tv was newer but the programming was limited sometimes we didn't get but one or two channels. not a deal breaker. the lobby was comfortable the sitting area for breakfast was nice. Breakfast included cereal, toast and rolls, pastry, eggs, toppings (various hering and sauces) cheese and meat, oj, milk, tea and coffee. staff were friendly but check in as at 2 and our package deal from iceland air brought us there at 8 am they did store our luggage while we explored the city would have been nice to clean up a bit first though. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: we had room 102 with construction and the bar inside a bit noisy at times I would ask for an upper l...

Room on the small side, could have done with some drawer space and a shelf by the bed for my specs and a glass (no room for a bedside cabinet/table). (I had a room to myself but not sure two people would have been very comfortable). The bed was very close to the window and every night I managed to open the curtains when walking between the window and the bed which was slightly annoying as there was a voile, a black out curtain, and a main curtain (which was in 4 parts) so I had to keep re-aligning them all to stop the draught and light from the window. That said, the bathroom was great with good shower, clean, fluffy, white towels, soap, shower gel, flannels and shower caps. Free wifi was a bonus. Some fellow guests seemed to have probs with slow charging of electrical gear (ie camera and phone batteries) but I didn't have any probs with mine (3 accessible power points incl one in bathroom). Breakfast was OK - continental style (ie fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, meat, cheese etc), everything was the same every day though but as our stay was only for 4 days it was OK. Toaster was tempremental - they could really do with a catering/industrial toaster rather than a cheap, household one, as it either left the toast anaemic or burnt it to a crisp. Tea/coffee was available all day. Staff were OK - not outstanding though and beyond a "hello" they didn't wish us a good day out or safe journey home etc - it's the little details that count! Good location - right in the centre of the city, 5 mins walk to the cathedral, 5 mins walk to the Sun Voyager, 6-8 mins walk to the Harbour and hot dog stand! Shops all close by.

Room Tip: Room 409 had a mountain view.

The photos of the outside don't really reflect the inside :-( We found this hotel to be perfect for what we needed whilst in Reykjavik; the staff are lovely, breakfast fresh and plentiful and the rooms clean. The bathroom is well stocked and despite being a small room it had everything we needed. The best thing about this hotel is it's location, literally a minute from one of the main streets complete with shops, bars, restaurants and cafés. The hotel booked all our trips for us on arrival, absolutely no fuss. We'd definitely return to the Klopp if we ever find ourselves in Reykjavik again :-)

Just returned from staying at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is faultless and a great location. You can skip getting picked up by mini bus and going around everyone else's hotels for collection of people to commence the excursions as you turn left out the front door and walk straight down the road to the bus station. This is where the trips start from( about 3 minutes walk). The rooms are spotless and have kettle, fridge and hairdryers, lots of towels and soap. If you plan your holiday to see the northern lights it really isn't a dear holiday as everyone tries to tell you(unless you eat in posh restaurants of course). The breakfast was lovely and lots on offer and continually replenished table. Happy hour(s) daily it was 2 x pints for £5....so cheaper than England...and infact the pub 1 door down was also this price all night. This was an amazing holiday(made even more special as we was lucky enough to see the lights and the whales)....made perfect as the hotel and staff were excellent .

Room Tip: you will be so tired it wont matter which room you request as long as it has a pillow

Not the biggest or the most plush, but a great central location and fantastic buffet breakfast. Rooms were small but not cramped and perfectly adequate for the time we actually spent in there. Hotel was clean, well maintained and the staff could not be more accommodating. We only had about two hours to spare between coming in from day trips and going out to try and find the Northern Lights, which meant we had no time for a restaurant meal. The hotel staff let us bring in takeaway food and eat in the dining area, this was accompanied by the great beer they serve during the happy hour.

Was an okay hotel, prices were pretty good, receptionist was really helpful. Although could tell she was getting annoyed when we kept asking for assistance.

Only problem we found was that there wasn't a way to specify we wanted a double bed so ended up with two singles....

Brilliant if you want to get around the city though as it's a 5 min walk from restraunts, harbour, theatre, and the giant church tower.

The rooms are extremely small, even smaller than any budget hotel I've stayed in in NYC or Tokyo. However, the location and breakfast make up for this. Based on other reviews, I did not expect so much from the breakfast. It was much more elaborate than a typical US-style continental breakfast. The pickled herring was delicious. If you eat a late breakfast, it can keep you going until dinner, which is a definite plus in a country with high food prices. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is also tea and coffee all day in the lobby. This is another great plus as the prices for a cup of coffee ranged from about $4-6USD. The hotel happy hour is also great. It runs from 5-7 and has really good prices. The only negative (other than the small rooms) is the construction site outside the hotel. We were woken by the noise from it once, but it didn't seem to run on the weekend. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you want a good central location and plan to spend most of your time out side of the hotel.

Room Tip: If you're traveling on a weekday and wish to sleep past 8AM, ask for a room that does not face t...
