One's first impression of this rather plain hotel hotel with smallish, sparse rooms may not be great, but the benefits are many. It is located within easy walking distance of city center and the harbor, and, importantly, is away from the main street that can be noisy into the night. The bed was comfortable, and the room features darkening curtains -- a plus in the summer. The service is good and the breakfast is more than adequate. A major attraction is price; in expensive Iceland this accommodation is quite reasonable.

This was our first overnight stay in Reykjavik following four days in the Faroe Islands. Whilst there was little wrong with our room - ersatz Scandinavian and dull but clean with a comfortable bed and good wifi reception- we were horrified by the level of noise from construction work next door which, as other TA reviewers have noted, was omnipresent throughout a long working day. When we arrived in the middle of the afternoon the pile driver was hard at work, thudding through the building. We remarked on this to the receptionist on checking in and were upgraded to a room not quite so dramatically affected.by the noise. This spurred us on to get out and explore the city which was easy as the hotel is well situated for the main sights, restaurants and bars. The inclusive breakfast was a standard Icelandic buffet style affair, but lacking panache and adequate staff to clear away the detritus of previous occupants of the breakfast tables....oh, and accompanied by the intrusive thudding of the pile driver literally on the other side of the wall! I suspect that when the construction work is finished in some months' time I would give a higher grading. Like the construction the hotel seems to be work in progress.

Room Tip: Ask for room as high up and away from the next door construction site noise as possible

Staying here with my husband on our honeymoon was a wonderful component of a magical holiday. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a great size, clean and comfortable. We had a corner room so wonderful views down two streets. It is centrally located however not on a busy road. We walked everywhere and the hotel was well known by all the locals so there was no issue with trying to find our way back (when we got lost). The breakfast included is not great but a decent start to the day. There was no issue organizing a Northern Lights and Blue Lagoon tour to pick us up/drop us off directly at our hotel.

August 8, 2014, we checked into CenterHotelKlopp for one night Realizing that we would need to travel to the airport the next morning for our departure flight, the clerk told us to park our car two or three blocks down the street as all streets nearby would be closed for a Gay Festival which was getting underway. While checking in, an unbelievable racket was heard. A large area immediately next door to this hotel was under construction and a huge jack hammer type of machine was excavating through the solid lava. When I arrived at our room around 4:00 p.m., I realized that the pounding machine was just on the other side of the wall. The pounding which jarred the room continued until 7:00 p.m. The next morning, we dragged our luggage two blocks to our car. The room was cozy, the hotel staff were most friendly and helpful and I will look forward to visiting again after the next door construction is completed.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are protected from street noises, but with no air conditioning, our room was quite warm...

We were very pleased with our room at the hotel and loved how easy it was to walk to all of the major attractions in Reykjavik. There is no hotel parking but we were fortunate enough to grab a spot right on the street in front of the hotel. Unfortunately you have to pay in increments of 50 minutes up until 6pm. Keep this in mind if you have a rental car!

Great location.Adequate sized and resourced room. Very clean room and public areas. Good selection of food for breakfast. Good early breakfasts so you can eat if you have an early flight.
Reykjavik is undergoing major building works in the area which are beyond the Hotels control. These back on to the Hotel and unfortunately we could not have had a worse room. When I raised it with reception there was little response. It might have helped to know start finish times for building. We were lucky because we were on a weekend break so no building Saturday afternoon or Sunday.Had I been staying a week I would have been less than happy after all even if you are out all day it is nice to be able to get refreshed late afternoon in the quiet of your room.Pre warning guests would be helpful to prepare them or give them the choice to continue with their booking.

Room Tip: Not 311 Which backs onto the building site and shakes.

This Scandinavian style 3 star hotel has an excellent location in the center of Reykjavik. Close to all key sites, bars and restaurants in the popular 101 district. In line with the Scandinavian style the rooms are a mix of wood and rather minimalistic decor, while the bathroom was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast got us off to a great start after the weekend festivities. Would stay here again.
