Just be aware that you may not be able to get out to the actual lighthouse in high tide. It can get a bit blustery in this spot, but it does provide a nice area to look out over the water (and hopefully catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights on a clear night).

One of the better places in Reykjavik to see the Northern Lights; a nice place for a bracing walk. Good parking. A pleasant place to visit in the evening to blow away the museum cobwebs.

We visited on a very stormy day. Impressive large surf was noted. You do have to hike cross a large seaweed covered sandy and rocky cove to get to the buildings. No services were available, but some dramatic views were.

During the winter this is a great spot to look for the Northen lights , as the city lights are not disturbing. Bring a towel and enjoy the warm footbath by the shore, close to the huts on the right side, before you come to the parking lot.

20 minutes after arriving at our hotel, we got allour walking gear on and took a 4 mile round trip stroll out to this beautiful area, with stunning views back onto Reykjavik and the mountains over it. Takes about 30-40 minutes, each way, but this also depends on how many photos you take (i came back from 3 day trip to Iceland with over 900 photos lol)
