“A good place to stay - welcoming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

We stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed it. Our private room was comfortable, the bathroom was accessible and clean and we had free rein over the use of the kitchen which I felt was also their kitchen. Was a little out of the city centre, a decent walk but do-able. Very much just like staying in a home. Very friendly and welcoming.

Delightful long weekend of 3 nights here. Vala made us really welcome - its like staying in your own home with use of a kitchen or a choice of buffet breakfast. Very convenient for town, bus stops on door step , swimming pool opposite, lovely bistro Laugaa 200m walk ( ask Vala for directions she always has a map about !). Vala cannot be more helpful or friendly and her English is good , making sure you get tours , recommending places to eat , where to shop, find coffee, booking airport bus pick ups. We would not hesitate to return next time. It is only 5 minutes walk to the magnificent view across the harbour looking at majestic mountains and then a stunning 20 mins stroll to centre of town looking at one of the best views in the world as you walk along seawall passing sculptures , new opera house and harbours / shops whilst admiring 3000ft + mountains. We always felt secure, welcome and comfortable

Room Tip: All bathrooms are on lowest floor so ask for room on that level

We had book only 1 night at the guesthouse but had to come back to Reykjavik several times during our stay in Iceland. Each time, we call and were welcomed like no other :) Lovely place, Buses or 20 minutes walk to the center and great terasse! Very good value for Iceland!

we have just recently stayed here and for the money it was excellent value. the room was clean, the bathrooms were clean, and the faciltiies for cooking are good, which can save money. there is a 24 hr supermarket round the corner, but i would advise using BONUS Iin the city as it is much better value. Across the road is a swimming pool, with heated pools,a seawater spa and a steam room . the fee is 500kr. we used this instead of visiting the blue lagoon. We bought a one day bus pass for 900kr,and visited a shopping mall, the harbour, and at the evening got the bus back, but if it is fine you can walk along the sea front in about 20mins. The host val was very nice and booked trips for us. If you arrive by flybus, make sure val books this for the return,as on the day of departure the wrong company turned up,and we had to flag a flybus coach down in the city centre. i would stay here again.

Room Tip: take some tea and coffee with you if you like to have a brew in the mornings

I do not understand how anyone can give this place anything but full marks.

My husband and I had breakfast here on two different mornings - we came back as we were so pleased. The place was advertised on a city plan at the campsite and as it was close by, we thought we'd try it.

The lady gave us such a warm welcome. Breakfast was perfect - cereals, yoghurts, fruit, bread, cheeses and meats, pastries, tea, coffee and juice. Jams, chocolate spread etc.

I can't comment on the accommodation as we did not stay here but if it was half as good as the welcome and breakfast, it would be excellent.

It's also excellent value for money.

Great guesthouse, close to the center of Raykjavik. It is clean and quiet. The breakfasts are delicious. And the owners are most welcoming and helpful. Thank you Vala for a great stay! If we come back to Iceland, this is for sure where we will stay.

I stayed in Laugabjarg Guesthouse for a week in August 2013. It was a lovely family run place. Valla was always on hand to book tours or advise about getting around. The Laugardalur Outdoor Thermal Swimming Pool is just across the road. The guesthouse is not far from the main tourist street in Reykjavik and you can walk there along the coast road, which has better views then the main road.

The rooms were comfortable, the bathrooms clean and there are two kitchens, if you want to stay in a cook for yourself. There is a 24hr store around the corner. If it is a good day you can have dinner on the large patio area. The guest house is in a residential area so it is quieter then the city centre hotels. I would definitely stay here again.
