Description: An Icelandic tradition since 1958. Mokka is one of Reykjavik's oldest cafés and the first to install an espresso machine and serve espresso, cappuccino, and café latte in Iceland. There's a tempting selection of sandwitches, cakes, and the coffee and hot chocolate are excllent with their famous house waffles, served with cream and jam. The déckor - red carpet, leatherette booths and stools - hasn't changed much althought the art on the walls is changed every 4-6 weeks as the café has doubled as an Art gallery with new art for sale since opening.

I went to this place as it's featured on the front cover of my favourite singer's latest album (John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts, if you're interested).

I loved the décor inside: it feels like you're stepping back in time to the 1960s. The place is fairly small, but wasn't that busy when we went on Sunday morning, so we were able to get a booth.

Great coffee and delicious waffles. Like everything in Reykjavik, it's a little on the pricey side, but worth it for the atmosphere. Feels like a hidden gem.

It's been around for some time according to the guide books. I'd call it average because there are many other nicer places to visit if you're looking for coffee and a snack. The staff were friendly but the place itself is kind of cramped. Nothing wrong with it just nothing special either.

It is nice to go back in time at Mokkakaffi. It still has all the original interiors from 1958. It is like a Time machine.....

I love this coffee shop! Every time we visit Iceland, we go at least 3 times. Great ambiance. The coffee is a bit on the pricey side, but it doesn't keep me from going back. The waffle is top notch! If you know the local music scene, you'll probably run into a few local musicians while sipping on your coffee.

Paid approx 900 krona ($9 CAD) for a latte and an espresso - on par with the rest of Iceland. The coffee was average tasting but the cafe is definitely worth visiting because it is the oldest in town, is centrally located, and has stayed traditional - no music and with unique atmosphere and artwork decorating the cafe. Worth hanging out in for a bit.
