Reykjavik Residence Suites

Comfy, cosy, convenient..... Just three words to start describing the Residence Suites. Immaculately clean and well equipped. Our room was probably one of the smallest, but was perfect for two. The only slight niggle was that there was no drawer space for clothes, although plenty of hanging. Breakfast was a feast for two, consisting of cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit, spreads and jams delivered to our fridge during the day, and a bag of fresh bread left on the room door handle early each morning. More than enough to start the day, AND to make up a packed lunch for two.
However, the best part about the hotel was the service, when the pre booked Flybus transfer failed to turn up for our return journey, so the receptionist arranged for a taxi at the hotels expense, and said she would sort it out later. How good is that for service!
The hotel itself is within walking distance of just about everything in the city, too, being only one street over from the main 'drag '. We had a room at the rear so no problems with noise for us as with some other reviews. Also, whilst there are still roadworks going on in the city, they are well away from the Residence now.
Can't do anything other than recommend this for any length of stay, unless you want full board....

My family booked this lovely little place for 3 nights as a surprise for my "special" birthday. There were 4 of us and we had a I bedroom suite on the top floor. Mr W and I had the double bedroom, bit on the small side, very dimly lit and no drawer space or clock/tv but comfy bed. Our two older daughters accompanied us; 1 slept on the sofa bed and the other in the little "nook" you can see in the pics on the website, both said very comfy.

There was a good sized bathroom with large tub and separate shower, wc and sink and some toiletries supplied. Kitchen area seemed well equipped but didn't cook so can't properly comment. A breakfast basket was supplied late each day with enough food for breakfast AND lunch the following day for the four of us consisting of various cheeses, jams, spreads, meats, bread, hard boiled eggs, fruit, juice, milk, cornflakes and tea bags however there was no "English Breakfast" type tea. A fresh loaf of bread was hung over the outside door knob each morning as well.

Location was excellent, just a short walk to the main street with all the shops and restaurants and staff were very helpful, even supplying a delicious cake and champagne on my actual birthday.

So, so far, so good. Had a fantastic stay until the morning of departure. We were being picked up about 5am for our Saturday morning flight back to UK so went to bed about 11pm on Friday night. However about 1am we were awoken by the noise from nightclub/bar opposite the hotel which was still in full swing at 5am when the shuttle driver picked us up. Even he said he didn't know how weekend guests here managed to get any sleep!

In conclusion would heartily recommend this lovely little residence but not if you like sleeping on Friday/Saturday nights!

The Residence Suite is very central, each room has a mini kitchen, a breakfast basket is supplied each day and fresh bread delivered to your door early each morning which was lovely.

The rooms were roomy and well appointed. We did have one issue with our room which the staff dealt with very promptly and professionally.

The reception staff were very helpful. There are two reykjavik residence locations, one is a hotel (I think) and the other is suites so ensure that the taxi takes you to the correct one, they are about 100 yards apart

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights mid-February. The Residential Suites is centrally located on a quiet street next to the National Theater in Reykjavik. The hotel used to be Prime Ministers' residence and there are photos and artifacts from this period on display around the hotel which makes it all the more interesting.

The good points about the apartment we stayed in were:
1) stylish, spacious and clean
2) the shower was easy to control and heavenly
3) comfy and luxurious bed
4) two televisions one in the lounge and another in the bedroom
5) wifi (at no extra charge)
6) kitchen stocked on arrival with orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, cornflakes, salt and pepper, which were replenished every day during our stay.

The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us while we stayed there. On the day we checked out from the hotel the staff kindly arranged to store our luggage in their quarters while we went on a South Coast tour before collecting it on our return late at night.

The only criticisms I have of the apartment are:
1) No wooden cooking spoons (only cutlery spoons)
2) No hand towels in kitchen for drying hands - we used one from the bathroom instead
3) No clothing drawers for storing jumpers, t-shirts, socks etc
4) No price list for bar items in fridge
5) Only one kitchen knife and a very small chopping board.
6) No small pots for cooking, only 2 large frying pans which could not be put on the hob together as it would overheat the thermostat and switch off the hob.

That being said, I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Reykjavik.

The husband and I adored this accommodation and will absolutely return for the following reasons...
1. The suite was stylish, spacious, immaculate and squeaky-clean (high praise indeed as I'm a little OCD about cleanliness)
2. Excellent location - everything from central bus stop, to harbour, delightful coffee shops, restaurants and bars all within 5 minute walk
3. Wonderful staff who were ALWAYS incredibly helpful
4. The residence perfectly balances luxury, self contained accommodation with the best of hotel service.

The staff, the hotel, and the location are all superb!

We flew in from Paris - the FlyBus+ fare got us directly to the hotel, and since there was road construction at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel (three minutes up the road) - we were moved to the Suites - and well, after a terrible bed in Paris for a week - all I can say is, we were in heaven.

Of course, we had terrible colds, and ended up spending most of our time in the room for the first two days of our time in Reykjavik. There was bread delivered daily, along with a breakfast basket, that had enough food for breakfast and lunch. The staff was super sweet, making sure we had enough tea, coffee and cough drops. They even pointed me towards the pharmacy for some cough syrup. All the staff took especially good care of us, and were excited when we finally scheduled a half day tour of the Golden Circle.

For being just a block off the busy shopping/bar street, it was blissfully quiet, and the black-out shades were a plus to allow us a deep sleep, without the street lights shining in the room.

Full kitchen, tea/coffee service (hot pot and a Senseo), toaster, microwave and small fridge - all that you could need.

The bathroom was great, full shower on one side, and a deep soaker tub on the other (that was abused, I apologize for the water bill).

The beds were comfortable, yet supportive, and each side had it own duvet, so no worries about stealing the blankets from each other - might have to implement that at home.

I have nothing negative to say about the Reykjavik Residence Suites - and would heartily suggest staying here or at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel just up the street!

Room Tip: 810 is a lovely top floor suite, but know there is no elevator in this hotel. That being said, ther...

Friendly helpful staff. Ideal location in town centre but quiet area. Feels very safe as does whole of reykjavik , fine for women on their own. Loved it
