We stayed here during our long weekend in Reykjavik in april.

Without asking for it, we got an upgrade to the Christian X suite. It was the most beautiful room i've ever stayed in! Classy, luxurious and a great location.

The main street is a 1 min walk away, and the Harpa Opera House is maybe a 5 min walk.

The staff couldn't be nicer, and we felt very welcomed!

Breakfast was placed in our fridge every night, freshly baked bread hung on the outside of our door every morning:)

The only negative thing I can think of, is that there is a concert place across the street that is a bit noisy in the weekend.

We traveled as a couple, I can definately recommend this for romantic holidays!

Though the suites are lovely and the staff courteous and helpful, our room was turned into rock band hell on Saturday night. In our first three nights, the lack of soundproofing was evident in the voices heard from the street. On Saturday night the hard rock band in the club across the street may as well have been in our room. Sleep was impossible and the party went on past 5 am.

The staff are very attentive and helpful. Roomy, clean and very comfortable. We had a 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds (my teenage son was with me). We opted for the breakfast and it was a great way to start the day (2 boiled eggs, yogurt, skyr, fruit, tomato, bread, cheese, sliced meat, chocolate, tea, orange juice, milk, and a lovely loaf of fresh, baked bread). It is close walking distance to the harbour, shopping, groceries, cafes, restaurants, and Grey Line Tours is just down the street. Most tour companies will pick up at your hotel. This area is also home to several pubs and bars. A good set of ear plugs may be required for the odd noisy night. Would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I spent 3 nights in Reykjavik in late March this year and found the RRS to be ideally placed for exploring the most popular "downtown" area of the city, and represented good value for money.

The double room was a little on the cozy side but was immaculately clean, with an ample en suite shower/toilet. The décor was modern and well presented.

We hadn't booked any trips in advance so had to go to reception several times for assistance and advice and we couldn't fault the staff who could not do enough for you, from advice to arranging trips for you, nothing was too much trouble and they were universally polite, chatty and professional.

All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the RRS, it was an absolute pleasure to have stayed there.

We loved staying at the Residence Suites. We arrived early in the morning and even though we couldn't check in, they stored our bags and gave us suggestions of where to eat breakfast. We were able to check in at noon and they even upgraded us to a one bedroom suite. The room was big and we loved having a small kitchen and living room. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom huge. The toiletries were nice and we loved the heated towel rack. Everyone at the reception desk was great and willing to help us with anything from booking trips to restaurant reservations and directions. Our only issue was with our booking. We booked through booking.com which the hotel's website sent us to when you pushed make a reservation, so we assumed this was the website they used for booking. We booked our room and assumed all reservations included breakfast (like it seems to imply on their website); however, when we got there we found out ours did not and it was expensive to add breakfast to your reservation once there. Breakfast was an expense we thought we wouldn't have to worry about, so it was a bit disappointing. The other glitch came when we went to pay our bill. Booking.com (again the website we were sent to by the hotel's website) quoted us the price in US dollars when we booked, but the hotel said they lock in the rate in Euros and since the exchange rate changed from the time we booked to the time we paid it ended up costing us more than we thought. The hotel told us that to avoid this next time we should book directly through them and when I told them their own website sent us to booking.com they didn't know what to say. They didn't adjust our rate but I think felt bad about the situation. This was the reason I didn't give them five stars. I would definitely recommend this hotel because of the great rooms, location and staff, but be sure you understand what your rate includes and DO NOT use booking.com.

Room Tip: We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor which had a great little kitchen and living...

I echo the other excellent reviews on this site. I can think of no criticism of this beautiful building and the extraordinary staff. My only hesitation in writing is that too many people will now stay here and it will be booked up when next I come.:-) The man in my life and I live with an ocean between us (he in Norway me in the US) and we chose Iceland and the Residence Suites as a place to meet up. It met and exceeded our expectations. When he was making the arrangements and explaining that I would be arriving first he was told not to worry "we like to take care of our guests". That was my experience from the moment I stepped through the door. Directions, suggestions, booking tours or transportation, problem solving and simply extending world class hospitality is their norm. And a special thanks to Bjarki who was helpful in many ways - including an explanation of how Iceland keeps her language pure by creating her own words vs adopting words from other languages - including the beautiful tölva ("number-prophetess") for computer. We will be back to Iceland and to the Residence Suites!

Comfy, cosy, convenient..... Just three words to start describing the Residence Suites. Immaculately clean and well equipped. Our room was probably one of the smallest, but was perfect for two. The only slight niggle was that there was no drawer space for clothes, although plenty of hanging. Breakfast was a feast for two, consisting of cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit, spreads and jams delivered to our fridge during the day, and a bag of fresh bread left on the room door handle early each morning. More than enough to start the day, AND to make up a packed lunch for two.
However, the best part about the hotel was the service, when the pre booked Flybus transfer failed to turn up for our return journey, so the receptionist arranged for a taxi at the hotels expense, and said she would sort it out later. How good is that for service!
The hotel itself is within walking distance of just about everything in the city, too, being only one street over from the main 'drag '. We had a room at the rear so no problems with noise for us as with some other reviews. Also, whilst there are still roadworks going on in the city, they are well away from the Residence now.
Can't do anything other than recommend this for any length of stay, unless you want full board....
