“Fabulous location in fabulous country”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

A very pleasant hotel right in the centre of the man street in Reyjkavik. We had a studio suite in an annex at the back of the hotel which had plenty of space. The bathroom was spotless and modern with a powerful hot shower, unfortunately the towels were too small for a 'real' lady lke me!!! The kitchenette lacked a kettle, although it did have a microwave and coffee maker. The beds were lovely and comfortable and we would have slept really well if it wasn't for the really noisy revellers returning all through the night. The rooms were extremely hot so we turned off the radiators and opened the windows (even though it was snowing outside) and the temperature was much better.

Breakfast was an ample buffet of cold meats and cheeses. The only drawback here was there was very little space to manoeuvre around the tables to get to the buffet table. The reception staff seemed to be very stern, but, when you spoke to them they were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

I found Iceland to be an extraordinary and fascinating country and will have to return as I forgot to take my camera! I would have no hesitation in staying at the Fron Hotel. Also the bar next door had a great happy hour from 5 - 9pm so beer was actually affordable in an otherwise very expensive city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the annex as Reykjavik's main street is buzzing at night and very noisy

If you are alergic to perfume, you must inform the hotel in front of your stay, as they use softener with perfume. Comfortable beds, but I would prefer to have one more pillow (didn't bother to ask for it, so thats my foult). The room was clean and fresh. Both checking in and checing out was fast and smooth. Friendly staff tooth. Best of all was the location, with lots of shops, restaurants and bars everywhere. We loved you Fron and will be back for sure!!

I loved staying at this hotel, perfectly situated bang in the middle of the city centre on the main strip. Very clean, lovely staff, breakfast was simple but great. Wish we had stayed longer!! Only downside is we had 2 single beds pushed together :(

Room Tip: Ask for a room through the courtyard at the back, you cant hear any noise from here. (Well we didnt)

We stayed here for 3 nights during December. The studio apartment we booked was really good value and well appointed. The location was perfect for us right in the heart of downtown. We had room no 202, which was on the 1st floor on the front , it was extremely noisy into the early hours (5.00am). We bought ear plugs on day 2 and that was fine the next 2 nights.
Breakfast was a bit of a free for all and continental, but there was plenty and what was there was good quality.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
(If you go during northern lights time be aware that you may be able to see them from the roof. We missed them as didn't realise this, we were in the bar and the lights were over head. GUTTED TO HAVE MISS THEM )

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Fron even though there was nothing "spectacular" about the place. However, it was comfortable and that's important when traveling I think. We flew on a red eye to Iceland and so arrived early, around 6:30 a.m. local time. I had emailed and requested early check-in and was told they would accommodate me if able. When we arrived at the hotel they had a room ready, which was great. After reading reviews on TA I had also asked for a room off the main street because of concerns of street noise on Friday and Saturday nights. We were put in the building behind the main hotel. It was great. We walked through a little courtyard/parking area and we were on the 4th floor of that building. We had a 1-bedroom apartment and it was comfortable. There was plenty of room to relax and a little kitchenette if we wanted to cook something. The radiators warmed up the place nicely (and quick). The beds and pillows were a little soft but still comfy. We slept great. We didn't hear any street noise while we were there and we were there over a weekend when things can get crazy.

The customer service was great and the place was clean. The location was also great - easy to get to all parts of Reykjavik to explore (not that the city is huge or anything but still this was a good central location). The only negative was the breakfast. There weren't a lot of tasty options.

Again, I'm not giving this place an excellent because it's a five-star hotel but because for $100 a night approximately I had a great, comfy stay while visiting a beautiful country.

Really cosy hotel with friendly staff, fitting in perfectly with the country itself.
We stayed in a studio suite at rear of hotel, beds good, big room, kitchen area at back
and the Icelanders certainly know how to keep a room warm!
Ideally situated in the main high street of the town, central to bus/coach terminals, restaurants and bars. If you are going to Reykjavik I would seriously advise you to stay here as busy area is quite small and there were a lot of 'drop offs' in some very isolated areas when we returned from trips.

Room Tip: Only one very small gripe, and this goes for ALL hotels. Some of us like firm pillows, please, someo...

we stayed at Hotel Fron on recommendation of a friend and we would definitely recommend it to others.
Centrally located on the main street, reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even when asked about the Northern lights tour for the hundredth time that day.
Rooms were spacious and warm and very clean and were made up every day with clean towels etc. we also had a kitchenette area which was useful.
Tours could be booked at the hotel reception and a bus would come and collect you from the door and drop you off afterwards particularly helpful if you had been on a late night tour.
Very good value for money with breakfast included.
If you are thinking of booking a package to Iceland I would suggest you don't and book it direct yourself, you will save a fortune
This hotel is a real find.
The restaurant attached to it is also excellent.
