Perfect solution for families. The apartments are spacious, tastefully done up and centrally located. The staff has been very helpful and even took the pains of mailing back a small item we left behind.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Fron. We found its location to be very central. We often walked around Reykjavik at night after our daytime tours. It was easy to reach all locations (although we did decide to use a taxi to get to Perlan as the roads we would have needed to pass were highways (I am sure we could have done it, but we didn't feel like figuring it out). We took three tours while and all vendors had no trouble finding us at the Hotel Fron. Our room was on the fourth floor. It had a nice bathroom with stand-up shower, a small kitchen area including a refrigerator with snacks/drinks for purchase and a sitting area. In addition, we had a "queen" bed (two twins pushed together). It was clean and very comfortable. We were there on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Our room faced the street and the night club across the way ROCKS until 4 or 5 in the morning on Friday and Saturday. On our first night, we were so exhausted so we slept right through it, but it is tricky to "ignore". Ask for a room in the back and/or bring ear plugs. Breakfast was simple but fine. The hotel is quite large (seems to be a group of many buildings connected together). We were in the main building. Our stay was very pleasant and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again, but would ask for a room away from the street =)

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the front (away from the night club- this may only be an issue on weekend ni...

Excellent location, just by the main walking street. In addition the restaurant just next door was good. Unfortunately the experience overall wasn't good. Even thought the room was "basic" clean, the bed and pillows were horrible. Air ventilation was bad, so we had to keep windows open for serveral hours to be able to breathe. Our room didnt have windows outside, only to internal and external corridors and the noice from street was pretty loud. Breakfast was really basic: bread, few toppings, joghurt and coffee.

Summary: ok for fast 1 night stop because of the location.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Fron hotel. It was a good clean centrally located 3* hotel but had few amenities. Breakfast was basic average continental style and a bit too busy for my liking! The same room is used for dinner in the evening and this was better but not great. The gentleman on reception as very pleasant and helpful but a lady on the previous day was a little sullen!!! Our room which was a studio was clean, sizable and quiet as we were at the back of the hotel. If you like to sleep at weekends please request a room away from the main streets. Overall our experience was good but would try a different hotel if we returned to Reykjavic.

This hotel was in a great location. Right in the centre of the main street. We requested a room at the rear which was nice and quiet. Room was very basic but adequate. My only complaint is the staff at the desk. Out of the 6 we encountered, only 2 of them were helpful, the others quite rude and and abrupt! But I wouldn't let that put anyone off staying here, I would definitely recommend it because of its location

The Fron is on the main shopping/pedestrian street and therefore in a great location and an easy walk to most local attractions. Most rooms have a small kitchen, a safe and a coffee maker, but with no coffee furnished. The restaurant is quite good and offers a discount on drinks to guests. Their lamb was especially good. Nice breakfast buffet. The dining room is small so if a tour group is in it is a bit crowded.

Room Tip: The annex rooms are not as convenient as the main hotel as there are security doors and steps to man...

We spent our first night and last night of a 10-day tour here. We had a double room the first night and a 1 bedroom apartment the last night.

The hotel is on Laugavegur street, which is in the "downtown" area and has many shops and restaurants located on it. We had dinner at Rossomodoro restaurant our last night, and I did a review on this restaurant as a separate review.

Our first night's stay was in the double room and we were somewhat surprised at the efficiency of such a small space. We had 2 twin beds, a small refrigerator with a cooking area and a t.v. The bathroom was plenty sapcious with a shower. The room was part of a building off the main entry building where you go for registering and having breakfast (lunch and dinner are also available).

Both of our rooms were very quiet, although our friends did comment that their room, which was more on the 'street" side of the building, was a bit noisy as our last night was on a Friday and the bars seemed a bit more "active" on Friday evenings than on Tuesday (our first night there).

No big surprise there!

I can't really comment on the value per se, as our stays were part of a great pre-paid package we arranged through Icelandic Guest. However, given the prime location, my guess is this would be more pricey than hotels located more on the outskirts of town.

Again, food in restaurant was very good and the prices were more reasonable than similar meals in other restaurants on the same street.
