“Awesome coffee ....”

Best coffee in Reykjavik and maybe on the planet. Try the cinnamon scones. Simply perfect. Relax to vinyl albums bring played and soak in the atmosphere.

“Overhyped”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

OK so CNN Travel recently named Reykjavik as 1 of the top 8 coffee cities in the World. Reviews have also been consistently toppish for Reykjavik Roasters. It is therefore understandable when one comes with great expectations.

Yes. They have a very nice espresso machine and source and roast beans within the cafe premises. These should ensure that only the freshest batches of beans are used for brews and espresso based drinks. The cafe also gives a very melbournian vibe ( I use melbourne as a yardstick for cafes world wide ).

Much to my dismay, the coffee was disappointing. We ordered a cappuccino, which was slightly burnt, a little too hot and honestly quite thin. The ice long black came with sugar syrup already added, which masked the taste of the coffee!! No, I was not asked if I wanted sugar added and the assumption would be the barista to ask.

Definitely not worth the hype. I'd hope that it was just an off-day for them. Honestly after a few coffees I've had in Reykjavik I'm beginning to have doubts about CNN Travel's review.

“Great coffee, tasty pastries, cosy atmosphere”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Lovely cosy Scandinavian coffee shop with interesting books, great armchairs. pastries looked simple at first but we're anything but - almond macaroon type base with chocolate moose and salty chocolate flapjack were devine. Would come again.

Being a barista I'm pretty picky about my coffee. Luckily Reykjavik Roasters definitely meets my standards!
