I stayed with my wife for 3 nights and found the location perfect for all aspects of sightseeing in Reykjavik. The room was a good size for a city centre hotel, tea and coffee making facilities, 2 beds pushed together was a disappointment though. The batroom was small and no shower but well kitted out with amenities and nice size bath. The happy from 6 to 7 provided 2 for 1 on the drinks, again reasonably priced for Iceland. There are a number of car parking facilities nearby however the pne down the road from the church was cheaper than anywhere I have parked in England! A very nice stay in a very cosy hotel.

Amazing location , the weekend staff was great, bathrooms lovely however watch out for the shower "screen"...as we did flood the room once. The restaurant was really good but I do hate paying for Wi-fi.

Room Tip: The doors are heavy- so it is not noisy in the hallways. We had an interior room so we didn't g...

We can't say enough about this great boutique style hotel. It was very convenient to everything in town with plenty of parking spots for our rental car. You pay daily by meters.
Rooms were small but very functional and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendlly.
We enjoyed the pub/bar every evening for happy hour(2 for 1 drinks even bottles of wine),
and again for irish coffee after dinner. Breakfasts were good. We would stay here again

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could - other than room being on the small side, it was all round very good. Happy hour in the bar (6-7pm) made the beer reasonable - 900kr for 2 pints, about a fiver, which is the normal price for a single pint.
A lot of sprawling Reykjavik has a 60s/Soviet look to it; the picturesque centre is the exception so staying there was important to us.
7-10am for breakfast so no need to be up too early, and plenty of choice of cooked/cold/cereal.
No Wi-Fi but two computers free to use downstairs.

Room Tip: Stayed on the top (4th) floor, seemed reasonably quiet.

It's all been said before: Great location, beautifully clean, particularly helpful reception staff. Good breakfast and great bar food. (Didn't have dinner in the restaurant.) Only minus point is charging for Wi-Fi connection which is irritating in tho day and age. We stayed one night in a £45.00 B&B which had free Wi-Fi!
We stayed in a "Junior Suite" which I wouldn't really recommend. They are on two levels with the bathroom and sitting area on the lower floor with the bedroom above. It seemed whatever you needed was always on the other floor! Imagine, getting up in the night for a pee and having to go downstairs! Rather badly thought out I would say. Incidentally, we were on the front of the hotel and weren't bothered in the slightest by late night revellers. Would recommend the "Icelandic Bar", 200 metres away, for great food and atmosphere.

What a great place to stay! Rooms were clean, comfortable, and well equipped with good beds, fine shower, safe, and clean environment. The location is everything one could want unless you want to hide from the city. Plenty of restaurants, scenery, and activity within easy walking distance. The front desk personnel were absolutely the best, be it simple problems or friendly chat. They could have been called travel agents since they gave accurate advice with a smile. They make one feel that they were very happy to have you in the Hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent with the usual Western foods plus fine cheese, fruits, and pastries. We stayed in a standard double room and loved it. I would stay here again, definitely!

Great location in downtown Reykjavik, close to many restaurants, shops and walking distance to most museums, galleries and places of interest.
Interesting hotel layout being centred around some very old buildings. Very nicely decorated with comfortable rooms, helpful friendly staff and good breakfasts. We found the beds very hard but the hotel put a quilt on the mattress which made a big difference.
Charge for wi-fi access which is on the downside. Comfortable bar where you can get a great coffee or beer and have free wi-fi access for 2 hours.
Hotel is built over one of the cities museums which traces the history of Reykjavik, this is a very interesting and well laid out museum.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of hotel could be noisey at weekends as the local revellers hit the streets, especial...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a new first class hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On each side of it, new buildings have been constructed in the likeness of their historic predecessors. The hotel spreads over all three buildings, and is designed in the style found in Reykjavík around 1900. During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath. ... more   less
