“Super hotel in a great area”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

Very friendly reception staff and a great room with free wifi and tea and coffee making facilities. Clean and lovely fresh linen on the bed. We ate in the bar and the fish and chips are fabulous, again with very friendly staff. We only stayed for the one night, but we would definately stay in this charming hotel again. So central to get into the town and the various sighseeing places.

Just spent a four night break in this very nice hotel in the centre of old Reykjavik town. This is now a modern hotel having been extensively renovated six years ago but with a fascinating history. The rooms are very good, all with a modern en-suite. The hotel has a good bar and restaurant and the whole place gives a warm and cosy atmosphere with smiley, helpful staff. I highly recommend this place and would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you everyone.

We travelled from the Uk to iceland during March/April 2012 . My husband changed our accommodation after he read reviews on Trip Advisor. What a pleasant surprise. Very centrally located and clean. Would stay there again.

I rather find this hotel as nothing special. The location is great, but that's about it.
I could not find the 4 star service throughout our whole stay. Even on checkout, no thank you, just swipe your credit card and goodbye.

The room was very small, and we had a hard time storing our cloths in the tiny closet.

We stayed 3 nights. Deluxe corner room overlooking the street and plaza. Very good size by European standards. Windows are double glazed and let in only a minimum street noise.
Hotel is extremely centrally located. There are at least 20 restaurants / bars / cafes within 2 (two) minutes of walking. Top notch Fish Market r-t is literally next door (skip sushi - its fresh but tiny). Another good place - Einar Ben (lamb is phenomenal) is across the plaza. Our third dinner was at a French bistro on the main Laugavegur street.
We did not eat breakfast at the hotel - there is a cafe 1 minute away (it is attached to a small supermarket). There is also a fancier Tea & Coffee bar across the street.
We had a car and parking was extremely convenient. Hotel does not have parking on-site, but a small lot is located on the side street. As it was always full we parked at large lot at the end of the street, closer to the port (on Tryggvagata street). Three minutes walk. Parking costs 800 ISK ($6.50) per day maximum.

Overall, very satisfied with the room, location and staff. Would definitely come back

Room Tip: deluxe corner rooms

Our stay at the Centrum was excellent, the rooms were spotlessly clean, service - great. Rooms were of a good size, could perhaps have had a little more hanging space but were really well equipped with fridge, mini bar iron and ironing board, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities etc. Bar served tea and cakes plus alcoholic beverages - breakfast was plentiful with something to suit every appetite. Location was in Old part of Reykjavik and was handy for harbour, museums - restaurants and shops - would certainly stay here again

Room Tip: Our room was at the side of the hotel, there was absolutely no noise during our 4 night stay - Monda...

Just returned from Iceland after spending 5 days staying at The Hotel Centrum. The hotel is very comfortable and central. Its near the harbour, the restaurants, opera house and many more. The coffee bar in the hotel makes lovely coffee and is a very cosy place to relax after a days sightseeing. I hope to go back there soon.

Room Tip: Lift to all floors. Very quiet rooms. Lovely warm showers. Breakfast had plenty of choice and all hi...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a new first class hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On each side of it, new buildings have been constructed in the likeness of their historic predecessors. The hotel spreads over all three buildings, and is designed in the style found in Reykjavík around 1900. During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with either a shower or a bath. ... more   less
