I picked Reykjavic Centrum because of the reviews on this site, and it lived up to expectations. Could not have asked for a better location, the room size was good, and it was quiet despite facing the street. By far the least expensive hotel with private bathroom we could find (found a great rate through the search on this site). That is relative though, all hotels in the country are extremely expensive. Everything was very clean. We didn't need much, but the staff was helpful. Good variety at breakfast

Minor annoyances - the blackout curtains did not cover the sides of the windows completely so some light still came in. The eggs at breakfast were cold as often as not. Even so, I would stay there again.

The Centrum Hotel is right in the middle of Reykjavik and so within very easy walking distance of museums, restaurants and shops. It is located in two attractive restored old buildings linked by a modern extension between the two.

The room was not large but well and tastefully appointed and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was not spectacular and not really on a par with the rest of what the hotel had to offer; we did not try the restaurant. The hotel bar was pleasant and has a happy hour from 18h-19h each day.

For those with a hire car, there is a public car park just round the corner (80 IKR per hour from 10h-18h). Wi-fi was available but at a charge.

All in all, we had a pleasant stay.

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. It was a perfect retreat after a long day of sightseeing and the staff could not have been nicer. Design is tasteful and subtle and the rooms had everything we needed.

We stayed at the Reykjavik Centrum for the final two nights of our honeymoon in Iceland. Right from the word go, there was not one problem, hassle or disgruntled staff member encountered the whole time we stayed. Entrance is lovely and bright. Reception staff welcoming and attentive and when we asked for a honeymoon room upgrade, they had us in the best room in the house without any probs!

WiFi in the hotel did cost about €10 for 24hours but when we came to check out, they wiped it from our bill as they thought the WiFi had been "Not been behaving itself the last few days". Brilliant! We hardly noticed! The room in the tower we had was lovely and bright but a little too bright at night due to the sun never really going away at night. Better blackout blinds would be a nice addition. Bathroom was smaller than the norm but all you needed and turned into a bit of a wet room if you stayed in the shower too long.

Location was excellent. Just far enough (200m) from the main square so you didn't suffer the noise from the Friday and Saturday night Rúntur pub crawl that some of the other central hotels suffer from but also close enough to have a number of great restaurants and sights within 2 min walk! Breakfast was plentiful and fresh and organising the airport bus pickup from the hotel painless... aside from the early start!

Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Cracking job Reykjavik Centrum - keep it up!

Stayed for three nights prior to joining a cruise. Hotel is well situated in the old part of the city, close to the harbour and a good selection of restaurants. Reception was politely efficient and helpful. Our room, although quite small was clean, comfortable and well serviced. Breakfast was adequate and the one dinner that we ate in was more than satisfactory.

All the reviews that said great things about this hotel were right on the mark. Location is perfect, right in the middle of town. The staff was tremendously helpful and friendly. Our flight from Seattle arrive early in the morning, well before advertised check-in. I e-mailed the hotel in advance about being able to check our bags early, and they made sure we could check into our room as soon as we arrived. The breakfast is well worth the extra price, a very substantial and excellent buffet. The hotel staff also helped us with details of what was worth seeing and avoiding, arranged for transportation to our next destination after checking diligently for the cheapest identical option, and let us check out late so we could relax in our room until our transportation arrived. The room itself was very nice and had a view of the square below. This hotel is highly recommended, and I'd definitely go back.
