“great location and nice hotel”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

I have stayed at the Radisson Blue 1919 twice. Once in Nov 2012 over a girls weekend to Iceland, and once in Nov 2013 when some of the girls brought our SO. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown, walkable to the city center, and even the church. We got a very nice rate from priceline for standard double. While the hotel does offer breakfast for a fee, we opted not to eat there. There are a couple of restaurants just on a next block. Within a couple of minutes walk there is a 24/7 convenience store where you can get a quick cup of coffee and some warm pastries and any other snacks one might want. Just a 5 minute walk there are a couple of coffee shops. It is literally right next to the famous hotdog stand (which I fail to see why people are wooing over it). The hotel staff is very nice courteous. This past November they did not have rooms for us until after 4pm, and while it wasn't the most pleasant experience not to be able to take a nap after an overnight flight, the front desk staff were very nice and patient dealing with our questions about tours and numerous inquiries. The rooms are nicely appointed and the furniture reminds me of Ikea. It's not necessarily cheap, just the clean lines and simplicity. If you can find a good price, this is definitely a great place to stay while exploring Reykjavik.

We are just back from four nights in Reykyavik and the Radisson Blu 1919 was the perfect base for exploring this fantastic area. Location is always our first priority and this hotel delivers on that; it's by the harbour, a street away from the main square in one direction and a couple of streets from the main shopping / bar & restaurant street in another. It is also right next to the most famous hot dog stand in Reykyavik! There's a queue for their hot-dogs day and night and they are definitely worth sampling - just ask for one with everything; they're delicious!

The hotel itself is great - very comfortable and clean (loved the huge bed pillows!) with extremely friendly and helpful staff who genuinely want to help you make the most of their city. Breakfast is worth paying extra for if you have the option. There was a varied selection of hot and cold, continental and English breakfast options...and saw us through every day until dinner!

In short, I would highly recommend this hotel and would happily return.

We stayed here for 3 nights in November 2013 and it was fine. The hotel is in a wonderful central location, close walking distance to everywhere you want to be. The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous.

The rooms are modern with dark wood and flat screen tvs. The bathrooms while fine, are hardly modern or breathtaking.

Overall the hotel was quiet and we didn't experience any noise from the nearby bars.

The famous Icelandic hotdog stand is right next door to the hotel...a must try!

Overall a clean, safe, affordable hotel in a great location. Location, location, location!

We could not fault our stay here. We asked for a quiet room and 510 was really good. The location is perfect for walking around the centre....the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff on the front desk are exceptional...very helpful with all requests for help and advice.

You can't beat the location of this hotel in Reykjavik. It is smack in the middle of downtown and in walking distance to everything you would want to do. While this is a positive for the hotel, it does get extremely loud on weekends as people part all night into the morning, so if you are trying to get a good night sleep on a weekend there, I would bring a good pair of earplugs. Besides the noise (which is going to be a problem at any hotel downtown), everything else is fantastic.

We stayed there on the first and last nights of our trip around the entire country and both times we checked in they upgraded our room to a junior suite for free. The rooms are very modern and funny enough to say, but it was definitely the best shower we had during our trip. Also don't forget to hit up the world famous hot dog stand right across the street from the hotel, you won't be disappointed. I probably had 8 hot dogs during my 2 days there. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel was located in the quaint area of the city, where you want to be when you visit Reykjavik. It is European chic, with a helpful and friendly staff and an interesting, if small, lobby. The rooms were very clean, modern, and stylishly turned out. I was visiting there with a girlfriend of mine who flew in from another country, and the room was very spacious (even with two double beds in the room).

First time in Reykjavik so wanted the hotel to be centrally located with good access. The Radisson ticked all the boxes, right by the harbour front within walking distance of some very nice restaurants, the main shopping area is also only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.Accommodation was very good nice clean rooms lots of space and the free WIFI is available throughout the hotel not just in the lobby as in some hotels.
Staff very friendly and helpful, did not dine the restaurant but seemed busy most nights. Our booking included breakfast which was excellent value with lots of variety catering for all taste.A small but well equipped gym was an added bonus.Nice lounge bar area with good service staying open until midnight.Without question my wife and I would happily stay here again.
