Arrived early and parked our car across the street in the public car park, charges applicable between 10:00-18:00, otherwise free. The hotel was full so we couldn't check in until 14:00 which was fine as they could store our luggage while we went for lunch. The hotel is well located in the heart of Reykjavik. There was some construction work being done to a road/pavement next to the hotel which was very noisy during the day but fine come the evening. Our room was on the third floor and was quiet basic and stark. The room had an entry way that could be shut off from the bedroom, the hall had a large closet off it which also housed a small safe, iron and ironing board. The wooden floor could have been cleaner - felt gritty under bare feet and socks got a bit grubby. The bathroom was tiny and only had a shower, no bath, which wasn't a problem for us. Oddly, the shower stall was completely tiled, including the floor. It reminded me of public swimming baths and the grout was suffering from constant use and never really drying out - I wouldn't say it was dirty particularly but didn't look clean like a shower tray would. Great to be able to get really good quality drinking water from the tap in the bathroom. The bedroom itself had a very basic desk and chair. A kettle and complimentary tea, coffee etc was provided. Free wi-fi was available in the room and it had a flat screen TV. Double black out curtains meant the room was nice and dark at night (as it stayed light outside all night!). Our room was on a busy street and consequently was quite noisy into the small hours. Best way to beat that is to join in and have a few of the excellent local craft beers. Can definitely recommend the 11.5% Nr. 19 Iceland stout served at nearby Cafe Paris - knocks you out a treat!!!

Thank you for taking the time to write this review about your stay with us.
I appreciate the feedback and we will use it to make sure that our future guests will have a special stay.
Our location is great, and I am happy to share that the new pedestrian streets around the hotel is now finalized, so there is no more noise from construction work.

I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to us in the near future.

Kind regards,

We stayed at the Radisson for a long weekend city break in Reykjavik and the hotel met all of our expectations. First off the hotel is well located, close to the shops, restaurants, harbour and pretty much anything you would need in central Reykjavik. The staff were very friendly, some of the friendliest we've ever encountered in a hotel.

The breakfast had a very good selection, although it can get very crowded in there, especially if as we encountered one morning there is a large group booked in the hotel who decide to all take breakfast together. In this case we had to go back to our room and come back later as there was nowhere to sit.

The rooms are fine, far from the best we have ever stayed in but comfortable. Our room could have used a lick of fresh paint but other than that was fine in the context of other rooms in Reykjavik (I've yet to find a room in this city that blows me away).

Tip if you are hiring a car and parking. There is a public car park right in front of the hotel. This is charged but will cost a lot less than arranging parking through the hotel. The car park is free after 18:00 M-F and from 16:00 Saturday until 08:00 Monday. If you feed coins into the ticket machine it will automatically take into consideration the free period. e.g. if you insert a few hundred kr at 15:30 on Saturday, it will print your ticket until Monday morning.

Would definitely stay here again if the price is right, which it was when we stayed.

We arrived very early in the morning, and our room was almost ready. Had to wait a few minutes while being assisted by friendly staff. Location was great. Walking distance to a lot of wonderful restaurants.Clean room and amazing breakfast buffet.

Just returned from 6 fantastic days in Island. We lived at 1919 with our 2 kids in the top floor Suite. Nice and comfortable room with big Jacuzzi that our kids enjoyed. No noice whatsoever. The hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants within 5mn walking distance... The service is uneaven. Some staff are great, others do not seem to care at all and are even rude. A shame for such an hotel!
One afternoon we ordered chocalate cakes and drinks and had to wait 55mn to get it served! After asking 3 times, the reply from one staff was that her colleague forgot to pass on the order to the kitchen!!! We ate once at the restaurant, we were there alone. The food was ok but could be much better, and once more the order was mixed up and my wife did not get what she had ordered. Apologies? No! Nice! For the last night, we had another kind of room in the 3rd floor: very very noisy.
1919 has potential for much more, it lacks charm today and we are not thrilled especially as It is rather expensive. The breakfast was nice and can be improved on 2 points: offer Tea of better quality (not average Tea bags!) and ensure that warm food remains warm in the dispenser (cold bacon and eggs are not too good).
The check out was another experience that must be improved.
So, mixed feelings...

We started and ended our trip here and with 2 different rooms had 2 slightly different experiences. Room 1: we were upgraded to a business class room on the 4th floor situated round the back, nice and quiet. Room 2: on the 2nd floor also round the back but we were woken by the noise of the street. Both rooms had excellent showers, but being in the town centre there are no stunning views. Breakfast was plentiful with traditional help yourself buffet and waffle maker. The staff were very helpful.
