“We LOVE this Guesthouse!”
Reviewed 21 August 2006

I cannot say enough good things about this place! It was recommended by a colleague of my husband's, who had stayed there in May. The owner found us a rental car at a good price (RB Car Rentals, which we also recommend), found accomodations for us in 3 different towns around Iceland plus rooms for our last night in Reyjavik-(involving a number of telephone calls because so many places were fully booked), gave directions and advice, even before we arrived, and was nice to our two children (ages 8 and 11.) The rooms are a good size, very clean and comfortable. We had the only two rooms on the top floor so only had to share the bathroom among ourselves. Other floors had 3 or 4 rooms with a bathroom on each floor. Ground floor has a sitting/dining room with television and book collection. Coffee and tea are available during the day as well. Owner speaks FLUENT English and French, and probably other languages as well! She is very responsive to e-mails. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat--I would arrange my trip around the availability of this guesthouse.

My mother stayed here on her visit to Iceland to see me and found this location to be very agreeable. The owner provides services beyond the expected requirements, such as getting up at 4:30 to wake my mother up for her bus to the airport.
E-mail response to reservations is quick, and the location is close to the coast, the downtown city, and shops, but is on a quiet street.
A good reccomendation for families and individuals, just book in advance!

This guesthouse is near Embassy Row in Reyjavik. It has large rooms by European standards, a shared bathroom (3-4 rooms/floor) and water closet, and is within easy walking distance of many sites in Reyjavik. The hotel has good breakfasts and a common room structure that made talking with others easier than in other places we stayed.

The guesthouse had new owners in the interim between when we reserved our rooms and our arrival. While the new owners were pleasant and helpful, I don't think they were as informed about what to do and where to go in Iceland and the previous owners, who I had exchanged emails with.

The rates were high for Europe, but low for Iceland. We would (and hope to) return here to stay and see more of Iceland. If you fly IcelandAir from the US to Europe, you can stay over 72 hours in Iceland at no additional cost. We strongly recommend taking the full allotment.
