This hotel is close to absolutely everything! The harbour, wonderful shops and restaurants - quiet and clean room that was extremely cheap compared to other hotels nearby, and even included a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. You can't go wrong with this hotel :-)

First impressions are important – and first impressions here are very good. Bright reception area with friendly and helpful staff, then left turn into a nice lobby with seating and tables looking into the main square – a place to spend time simply watching the world go by. The rooms are clean, comfortable and – by the size of the radiator – should be warm in winter. On the down side, they are simply furnished and the window frames showed the effects of an Icelandic winter. But spartan furnishings seem to be the norm in Iceland (remember, virtually everything has to be imported) and overall I was more than happy with three nights here on an affordable B&B rate. However, breakfast is a scrum in a windowless basement room – so it may be a good idea to breakfasting late after all the tourists have gone to the airport.
Also, try to get a back room as Reykjavik night-life can go on to the wee small hours and sleep could be difficult in a front facing room.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back!

Enjoyed my stay here very much. Had a double room looking into downtown center. Great breakfast with everything you could want. Lots of shops and attractions in walking distance. Staff was very helpful assisting me in dealing with lost luggage. Pointed out places I could get essentials at a reasonable cost.

Room Tip: Get a room on the side facing the harbor or center square. Better views although center square side...

My company uses this hotel, so I decided to stay. There is NO parking if you have a rental car. You have to park in a pay garage about 1/2 block away. That's OK. The room is small but clean. The bathroom is also small but clean. What I didn't like was the curtains do not block the sun! At 0430 in the morning, the sun is streaming through the curtains. I had a mask but that's uncomfortable. With the sun up for long hours, the hotel is also in the final approach path to the downtown airport. That's a noise maker. The fire alarm pull fell off the wall on the 2nd day. How...who knows! I took a picture and showed it to the desk clerk. When I left 5 days later, it was still hanging by the wires. That's not very comforting. The breakfast was the same thing every day but it was good and tasty. The wifi worked very well and no issues with that. The staff is outstanding. Will I stay there again? Well, the jury is still out but I think I would. Maybe another Centerhotel away from the final approach. Curtains to block the sunlight would be really good!

We've booked this hotel for our two last nights on a 14 day roundtrip of Iceland. The "superior double room" was average at best with holesin the wall and terribly worn. The bathroom is obviously designed by monkeys as a shower leaves water all over the floor.

But worst: the hotel is placed at a city square with music playing all night, cars driving by, people shouting. I could not get any sleep. If you book here, make sure to get a room on the inside of the building. This was just horribe experience.

We booked online and paid 180 euros for 2 people for 4 nights including breakfast in a standard room.
The hotel is a great location in the city centre with everything including bars, restaurants, shops, churches, the waterfront and harbour within walking distance. The tourist information centre is next door. All excursions pick up from the front of the hotel.
The rooms were small but adequate with everything you need. They were clean and had all necessary amenities including a kettle and mini fridge..
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and fresh. Happy hour in the hotel was between 5 and 7 and drinks were 5 euros for wine, not bad compared to bar and restaurant prices in Reykjavik. We also visited the sister bar at the sky plaza hotel which had great views.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Good value hotel in a central position in the old town within an easy walk of restaurants, bus terminal from airport and the city centre.
Rooms are small but well organised, quiet and warm. Staff were helpful and there was space to sit and wait for trips and for friends. WiFi worked. Buffet breakfast gave a wide choice and was noisy and busy but well organised. There could be a delay at the front desk due to large parties arriving but this was not really a problem and staff were friendly and efficient.
We were at the back of the hotel so had no view but it was quiet.
The central position of the hotel was the main plus point for us.
