Lovely, stylish, convenient hotel. Easy walking distance to all sights and restaurants. Lovely quiet room, as requested. You do have to get used to the fact that the Friday and Satuday night partying does fill the air till dawn in the downtown area, but that is just a fact of life there. The hotel is very cosy and comfortable although as it is boutique style there are some little niggles about practicality such as no towel rails? But owing to the endless supply of water and heat in the country there are no notices asking you if you want to keep your towel for another day! So no guilt trip there! Great shower, comfortable bed, great idea to have a duvet each, might even start doing that at home! Breakfasts were very good. Granola the best i have tasted. Would agree with previous reviewer that eggs were not the best but its not like they were the only thing on the menu!
Reception staff helpful and booked us on a northern lights tour as we checked in.
Overall, very impressed with the hotel and the country. Very busy but relaxing break and we would have no hesitation in returning to Reykjavik or the CentreHotel Thingholt

Room Tip: We were in a deluxe room on top floor - room 407, same as another recent review. It was as quiet as...

I cannot say enough about this hotel. The room was neat and tidy, the shower was awesome, the staff were great and extremely helpful, and the included breakfasts gave us the fuel we needed to have awesome adventures! We will definitely stay here again when we come back. We were on the first floor (room112) and street side and we honestly had no problems with noise. The wifi always worked. And we were so close to everything, literally right in the center of it all!

This hotel is right in the middle of all of the attractions and restaurants in Reykjavik; we spent four days here and were able to walk everywhere. There are tons of cute boutiques, quirky shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, etc on the streets surrounding the hotel. Unfortunately, the hours of all of the shops were very short (e.g. 11am-6pm) so plan accordingly.

The breakfast was really great - big selection of hot and cold food and drinks - and included in our $100/night rate. Rooms were modern, impeccably clean, and a good size. If you go to breakfast and plan on returning, put the "do not disturb" sign on your door - the cleaning ladies come around early and once I returned to find our room mid-clean.

Beds are very firm.

The only downsides to the room were the lighting (the room always felt dark, and the lighting was difficult to figure out how to control) and the circulation (our room had no controllable thermostat, and in the mornings it would get so hot and steamy even with the window open).

Room Tip: Request a room with more than one window - our one little window did not get ANY air into the room...

Hotel Thingholt was the perfect location for our stay in Reykjavik. Right in the heart of dowtown near lots of shops / restaurants sight etc.

The room (we got a deluxe) was bigger than i thought it would be and the bathroom was very lovely and stylish (great shower!)

Breakfast was good too - the granola and yogurt was delicious (but the eggs not so good!). Would definitely recommend this hotel particularly as we got a great deal on splendia.

Stayed at the thingholt for 3 nights, and have been impressed. Hotel clean and well designed, breakfast tasty with a decent selection (although get to breakfast by 8.30 at the latest as the hot food is not refreshed once it has gone!) great location, and beds nice and comfy!

I choose this hotel for a surprise trip for my husband and can't fault it really. Reading reviews on here must be taken sometimes with a pinch of salt. So I will be brief and hopefully it will help some decisions.
Location: Fab "wheres the centre from here" your in it. That is how close you are not as noisy as what people make out, we had the deluxe room which we were automatically upgrade to. And heard no noise.
Rooms: Nice design and basic super massive beds and comfy lighting is absolutely fine they are dimmers press it hard enough and you have enough light( some reviewers said the lighting was bad) Above all clean super clean, Good view of harbour in deluxe.
Breakfast: Exellent, for all tastes, there is hot food which they are replenishing all the time, massive selection and we were not hungry and we did major activities on our trip well worth it.
Staff: Friendly and extremely helpfull
Good value....

Room Tip: Deluxe room !!! good view ask for an upgrade.

we stayed for 3 nights from the 28th Feb. Checkin was quick and we were given room 407 on the top floor (4th) - I did request a room on a high floor in a quiet location - which it was - at the end of the corridor. The room was on the small side but perfect for just the the two of us for the 3 nights. The room was clean, had a tv with a lot of english channels, mini fridge which we rearranged to put some of our stuff in and a safe (which was located on a high shelf - so we had to use a stool to ensure we emptied it as we could not see into it!). The room was cold when we got there and we couldn't find any heating controls, we asked at reception who said there should be a radiator some where in the room - we found it eventually, behind the bed! Once we turned this on, the room temperature was fine. We only had 2 towels in the room, but ask at reception and they will give you some more. I only complaint was that reception was not always manned when we went to ask something and the duvet situation is rather weird! There are 2 duvets but neither are big enough to cover a double bed, they are more like singles, in the end we took one each which was more comfortable then the way they had them length ways across the bed. The breakfast was good, lots of choice from cereal, croissants, fruit, toast and hot sausages/egg/bacon/potatoes. You are a 5 min walk from a supermarket 10-11, there are lots of bars and restaurants also within the same distance. The Hallgrimur's Church is less than 10 mins walk away. We used iceland4you.is for all our tours and would definitely recommend - they use smaller buses than Reykjavik excursions and were always on time to pick us up and the tour guides were both very helpful and knowledgeable. The blue lagoon tour is an absolute must - amazing is not the word! If we went back to Iceland then we would definitely stay here again.
