LOCATION: Centrally located. A few steps from the hotel to the main shopping street, Bankastræti. A taxi from Keflavik International Airport to the hotel takes 40 minutes and costs ISK 13,900.

HOTEL: Friendly front desk staff, albeit a bit unorganised. Clean room. Good size. Good mattress. Decent pillows. Good shower. Very good breakfast. The room has a bit of the sulfur smell due to the hot running water in the bathroom, (according the front desk staff). Pack with you an aromatic candle before heading for Reykjavik or buy it locally at the bookstore/café SuZushi IÐA at Lækjargata, less than a 200-meter walk from the hotel. Free in-room WIFI.

Location, location, location. When we were dropped off one other traveler in the shuttle lamented she had not decided to stay at the Thinfholt having done so before. She was right to regret her choice. My wife and I traveled in late April. Could not have had a better time. Wonderful staff and best breakfast in Europe.

The staff was nice and very helpful. They helped us book a helicopter tour and always had a smile.

Although the room and "spa" left much to be desired. The room was ok in size (we had a junior suite). But for that price id excpect the basics lik pen and paper and some bath salt for the bath. The showers hot/cold regulstor was horrible to adjust.

The "spa" dont have any other facilities then a swimmingpool and a steam room. We paid about 180 euros per night for our room but still had to pay 25 euros for using the "spa". It should have been included. You pay about the same for an entrance to the Blue lagoon!

Reykjavik is a small city, but location still counts.
Thingholt is literally smack dab in the middle of the city.
The hotel is dark and chic, and give a great feeling of privacy.
The rooms were modern and large, and really don't have any complaints.
There was music loud into the night on weekends, but with a pair of simple ear plugs,
the music went away. So just remember to pack ear plugs.

Congierge and staff were very nice and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
The price is great as well.

All in all, no complaints!
Thank you for a wonderful stay

First, the positives: The location is great, the hotel's rooms and common areas are clean and modern, and the service is impeccable. Really, I can't speak highly enough of the front desk staff. Having stayed in some expensive-yet-cramped northern European hotels in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by the room's reasonable size and amenities.

There were a few downsides, though. For one, the shower was an open stall (i.e. no edge or full door separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom) but the floor isn't slanted at all towards the drain. We flooded the entire bathroom during our first shower! We ended up having to create a barrier with towels every morning, which solved the problem. According to the front desk, some rooms are like this.

Secondly, there are some extremely noisy bars near the hotel. It isn't terrible, but if you are a very light sleeper you might find yourself looking for ear plugs on the weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor to be further from the bars nearby, and remember that the heat for the room can...

Great hotel, perfect location. Amazing holiday.
After moving rooms from the first night. Low front floor - moved to the back high floor. Things became amazing. The lady on the front desk was awesome..... think she was called maria? Short black haired lady.
The rooms are small but clean and comfy. Breakfast is excellent..... lots of coffee!
Design of the hotel is a little dark, might not suit most but we loved it. I will be back very soon.

Hotel and room was immaculately clean - ideal for the main centre and pubs. The prices were for food and drink were pretty much the same as the rest of the area. parking isn't easy or cheap though and it proved challenging to find the Hotel with the one-way system - persevere though its worth it...
