“No sleep”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

It was not easy to sleep because of the night clubs near by.

Aircondition out of order and it was way to warm. About +++25 C

Staff kind and helpful. Easy to book excursions but might not be the best price.

Perfectly situated in the center area. That's the big plus!

Not worth the price though. Checking out before 7am means little breakfast. Coffee, tea & croisons. Not impressive at all.

I was impressed with the staff's attention to all needs and requests. The food was great - nice variety of choices. We loved the location. Close to everything, but just one block away from the hustle and bustle.

Room Tip: Tubs are deep so older travelers might have a little trouble entering and exiting.

I enjoyed staying at the hotel with my partner last November and would stay here again if I return to Iceland:

Positives:

+ The hotel was obviously designed to a very high standard. The decor is contemporary and new.
+ The breakfast is really good and there is lots of it - always restocked and nice and hot
+ The rooms are good. Enough space with some nice features.
+ Great central location
+ Lovely and warm - no drafts which is good in Iceland!
+The house keepers are insanely clean. They made our bed everyday and cleaned to an extremely high standard.

Negatives:

- When we visited one of the receptionists was completely unhelpful. When we arrived (with the rest of our transfer group) our room was the only one not ready. We were first in the line and she said she would check after 10 minutes to see if it was ready. We were sat for at least an hour before she left to see (after checking all of our transfer and another transfer bus in). This was annoying as we were just watching each couple happily walk past us to the lift as we sat and watched.. She was then very rude to me when I asked her if our room was ready after waiting an hour. She also then was extremely cold to myself and my partner for the rest of the trip ignoring us even when we said hello when entering. Completely inappropriate.

- I wasn't a fan of the glass toilets in the room. There weren't any blinds (a frosted band of manifestation on the glass didn't seem enough to me) - VERY inappropriate if you're in a twin room with someone who you obviously dont want to share a bed with let alone watch each other in the bathroom. It loses some of the romance if I'm honest.

- From our room we had the air con units from another hotel outside so there was a low humming the whole time we were there. (Probably an issue if you have a back facing room - ask for a front road facing view if you can).

That being said IF the member of staff wasn't so rude and so forgetful it would have been a pleasure to stay especially as the bathroom is more of my opinion than a real issue.

Room Tip: Go for a road side room if you can because the humming from the back can be quite loud.

Friendly staff, great choice of foods at breakfast. Restaurant service was good on the one evening we ate here and the food was lovely. Fab location, easy access to shops and restaurants. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: First floor seem to have bigger rooms. Maybe ask for a fan as windows don't open very far.

The location was amazing right off the main road in Reykjavik. This boutique style, sleek, and yet trendy vibe was great. The rooms were small but appropriate and housekeeping was really helpful when we had a small issue with our lights. The breakfast was good included in the price and the staff were friendly and helpful. Maggie and Clara at reception were excellent
My only concern was the curtains did not cover the window wall to wall, so with the light being almost 24hrs, it was difficult to sleep sometimes. And the bedrooms were a bit on the small side, however, the design and look and feel of the hotel overall surpassed my expectations.

Wonderful boutique hotel right in the heart of town, lovely staff, great breakfast, really lovely rooms. Just what we wanted from the trip, they gave great advice on day trips etc. Surrounded by lovely bars, restaurants and shops but still super quiet and comfortable, 10 out of 10!

Excellent location for downtown and waterfront attractions. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. But the room was postage stamp size (and a small one at that), the bathroom was tiny and the shower cramped. The bed was comfortable. There were no instructions with the phone and it didn't work like any other I had encountered (press "9" then "ok" to reach the front desk). Iceland is very expensive, but this place, even by that standard, was a bit much.
