We were staying in Reykjavik for 4 nights and wanted a central location. You cant get a better location than this hotel, it is right on the main shopping street with all restaurants and bars. I have read some reviews about noise but it wasnt a problem for us. I think on the Saturday night we heard a bit of noise but we did have the window open. I think you need to expect a little noise if you want central location.
The hotel was very clean and modern, but also welcoming from the cold Icelandic weather. We found that the staff were very helpful and friendly, and upon checking in we were pleased to see that the requests for nice view had been taken on board and we had a stunning view of the harbour.
Room is perfect for the price and was cleaned every day.
The breakfast was good and had a good variety. I think without this we would have spent a lot more money on food during the trip.
I would definetley go back to this hotel and recommend to others.

The hotel was very hip. Right in the middle of the action. Which was good and bad. We woke up in the middle of the night the night we arrived (Saturday) to screaming and bottles breaking. It actually sounded like we were sleeping in the middle of a night club. And they party til like 6 in the morning. So unless you are involved in the action, I would recommend staying in another CenterHotel just down the street. Still close enough to walk to the shopping and restaurants, but far enough way to not feel like the dj is set up in the room next door. Also, the room is TINY. I know this is normal for European hotels, but this room was exceptionally small.

My girlfriend and i have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Thingholt.

It is an excellent hotel, extremely central, literally a few yards from the main street. Some reviews mentioned possible noise at night, though we stayed over a weekend and heard nothing from surrounding bars, etc. The location is superb, the rooms are a good size with usual amenities and big screen TV's with English channels, hair dryer, etc. and the breakfast was excellent.

The reception staff were also very helpful and the rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day.

The best thing i could say is that if i ever return to Reykjavik, i would definitely stay in this hotel again.

We all felt that this boutique hotel was by far one of the best places we could have picked. Greatest things about this place:
1. Ability to check right in, even though we got there at 8am in the morning
2. Location is perfect, right off the main shopping/dinner strip but off & not loud at all, even during the Friday & Saturday "Runtur" (aka. Bar crawls do)
3. Very clean
4. Amazing & plentiful breakfast (Absolutely try the yogurt in the pitcher & dip the amazing rolls in it...so fresh & delish)
5. Staff couldn't be friendlier
6. Fast Service

After looking at other hotels in Reykjavik & seeing their locations, I have to say I wouldn't even consider booking another place, & would absolutely go back & plan on it. Yes the rooms are a little small, but honestly, extremely efficient in how they utilize their space. Modern but not uncomfortable decor. Loved the bed, comforter & pillows.

This place was chic & everything you would expect from a great city like Reykjavik.

Location brilliant, right in centre of town but off main st so no noise. Doesnt look much from outside but nice trendy reception. Room ok, but slopping ceiling not so good for the head. Bathroom mirror had crack in it, floor coming up, but nice shower.
Staff were nice enough but didnt tell you everything you needed to know, ask all questions and you will be ok.
Breakfast ok
